Good result.. but I'm pretty disgusted with that last twenty minutes. Absolutely disgusted.

Oh well, take the 2 points I guess.

The message went out that Steggles will fold if the Roosters keep piling them on, so they let some through.

On another note, i thought the following players had great games:

Mitchell Pearce - had to be best on ground, he was everywhere. Some shady kicks, but his support play is second to none. The try he set up for Maubs was sensational.

Aiden Guerra - Talk about this bloke came out of nowhere. Solid mobile defender, and has the size and aggression to break the line.

Todd Carney - Picking his moments brilliantly, i thought he complimented the halves really well. It's nice to have a player as dangerous as him in the opp. 20.

Braith Anasta - The addition of Carney did wonders for his playing role. Now he can pick and choose when attacking the left side. I can see a lot of tries between Mini, Graham, Guerra and himself.

Kouparitsas - Again, very solid play in what was a very important part of the game when we were in an armwrestle to get momentum. 95% of people on here including myself should be eating some humble pie, not only because they berated his ability but his ability to play number 9. Letting him start, then throwing him on later in the backrow was a masterstroke by Smith.

Maubs - Is this bloke deadset one of the safest fringe defenders around ? Add to that some good speed and hands. Brilliant.

Conn - I thought he was our best forward today, went through a lot of work on a day where all forwards were getting struck down by heat.

        Points:
        3. Pearce
        2. Guerra
        1. Conn

Am I the only one who is surprised at the outstanding value provided by Guerra and Conn? These blokes were bought as depth, and at full strength, our team probably doesn't reserve any vacancies for them. But Conn has shown a huge ticker, with plenty of hitups, tackles and go-forward, while Guerra must have jumped in as Cherrington's replacement, being Anasta's designated hole-hitter.

Graham is showing plenty of pace, nous and experience out wide, Aubusson is showing signs of Steve Menzies in his high pace attacking style and slick mobile cover defense.

And what more can you say about Carney? Simply stunning.

I thought we looked better with Jaubs at dummy half. Koops "grubber" that lead to the Lote try was a brain snap, he is not a good rake!

                Chook.

If Maubs doesn't play for City this year then I'm a bad judge.

One of the best 1 on 1 defenders in the league with pace who can bust tackles and pop a ball.......A ****ING GUN, I love this guy.

excluding tommorows game, nearing the end of the round..

carney equal top point scorer with jt on 24

mitchell pearce 2nd highest try scorer with 4, behind vatuvi with 5

and the surprise packet... guerra, equal 3rd tries with brett morris and a few others, also equal 3rd in line breaks with 3

i cant remember the last time we had anyone appear in any top 5 stats apart from errors, tries conceded and points conceded.

                          things are looking up!!

As do I and I wish JAubs played the 80 because I can't stand Kouparitsas and cannot fathom why Smith persists with him.

Conn and Guerra were very good today, Myles and Ryles were quieter, FPN and Lopini were both good, MAubs is fantastic, Anasta played his part well, Pearce and Carney were wonderful and the backs did their bit. All in all, a good team performance barring the last 20 minutes.

Yep, I'm prepared to let it slide based on the heat. Sounds like it was bloody awful out there, and the fact that the Tigers were picked by a few to be the best 'attacking team in the NRL'.

We'll see how we go against the Bulldogs next weekend.
