Exactly what teams did to our big slow pack over the last two years.

Souths forwards will be fitter that ours were though.

That's the problem, if we tried that tactic, our forwards would be the ones who were buggered, not Souths.. They will towel us up in Round 1.

Taylor is not the fittest bloke around and Ross has only just been cleared of his injury.

Burgess will take a little while to get the feel of the different interpretations in the NRL, had a couple of penaties last night where he just didn't understand NRL reffing. I also find it amazing that this bloke is the second coming of Beetson, Webke and Tallis all rolled into one before he has played a single game of NRL.

        TIme will tell.

          Asotasi
          Ross
          Stuart
          Burgess
          Taylor
          Crocker
Doesn't match up to the Bulldogs of 04 for me.

          Price
          O'meley
          Mason
          Maitua
          SBW
          Grimaldi
          Asotasi
          Ryan

Souths pack is very strong but are they outdated? Our pack in 08 showed that the emphasis on leg speed and mobility in the modern game is worth more than power and strength. They're all very big boys but if we get Symonds, Cherrington & Maubs running the right lines we could open up some serious holes down the fringes.

Crocker is in doubt for Rd 1.

They really lacked a good hooker though, didn't they?

Imagine if you could chuck Cameron Smith in there. They would have been unbeatable.

Good call. Those 2 will play plenty of minutes.

                They also have

                Geddes
                Clark
                Lowe
                McPherson
                Tyrell

Very good depth. Maybe a bit short of props if Ross and Asotasi's injuries become a problem but very good pack.

Maybe you should support souffs, if your already getting a hard on over the forward pack

lol @ souffs and parra will be the big myths of 2010

I still have some massive question marks over their pack though.

I mean Asotasi isn't close to the player he was 2 years ago, Crocker again is another player who's not what he used to be and is now riddled with injuries, can Burgess handle the NRL week in week out for a full season?

It's a massive call to say they're the best you've seen when in fact you haven't even seen them play together yet, like I said mobility & leg speed a huge parts of the modern day game... I'll postpone my judgment until at least half way through the season.

Todd Carney set to return to the halves for Foundation Cup clash
                                By Steve Ricketts
February 15, 2010 Todd Carney is set to return to the halves for Sydney Roosters against Wests Tigers in their Foundation Cup match, after a strong debut at fullback against Atherton in north Queensland.

Carney, who was sacked by Canberra Raiders and deregistered by the NRL after a series of alcohol-fuelled incidents, played for Atherton Roosters last year before being given a chance by the club's Sydney namesake.

With Atherton playing a big part in a positive turnaround in Carney's attitude to life and football, the Sydney club said thanks by sending a squad north to play the locals.

"We had a crowd of 4500 here at the showgrounds and Todd was the man they came to see," Atherton Roosters chairman Michael Nasser said.

"He set up a few tries and celebrated with water afterwards. He's off the drink and going full-bore."

Former South African schoolboy rugby union star J.P. du Plessis scored three tries in his league debut as the Roosters thrashed the locals 68-18.

Roosters captain Braith Anasta also travelled to Atherton, but did not play because of an ankle injury which threatens to delay his season's start.

If five-eighth Anasta is unavailable coach Brian Smith may have to abandon his fullback experiment and switch Carney to the halves with Mitchell Pearce. In that scenario, veteran Anthony Minichiello would regain the custodian role.

The Roosters' top squad lost 26-8 to the New Zealand Warriors in Rotorua.

Canberra signing Steve Naughton (shoulder) was the Roosters' only casualty.
