How long do peoples reckon it'll take for Ferguson to get back up to speed ?

3-4 weeks to validate why we signed him - and him to make his mark in the league again after 6-8 weeks.

Going to be a tough call for Jimmy and JnrJnr to go left or right. A little bit of friendly competition within the team.

Fergo just has to make sure he doesn't try to over do things & that he plays wants in front of him he is like everyone else he will do good things some real good things but he will also make mistakes.

On a whole I think he will be fine in attack, albeit a few dropped balls here and there.
I'm keen on how long it takes him to play properly within our defensive structure.

I would think at least a month to get the fitness levels up an about 8-10 weeks to really hit his straps. He was struggling for the last 25 minutes of the trial and I was hoping Robbo would rest him at that stage.

Round 6 I'd reckon. He's very close now really. Could be earlier if the team is running on all cylinders to start the season which they certainly look like doing. A Roosters Souths GF is looking pretty damn likely. Obviously very early stages but Souths have got a bit of that Melbourne clinical nature about them. They'll win the games they should this season. And I reckon they'll only struggle against super talented teams like us and the Cowboys and maybe even the Tigers if there forwards can hold their own this season.

Come finals time, a fresh Jake Friend and a firing Blake Ferguson could very well be the difference. Very excited for this season. We look like we've got that hunger and attitude back, and sh*t can we score a good looking try. Not like those Bunnies, same freaking boring arse play just done to perfection. I'll never understand why rugby league fans in general like Souths.

Well said mate, I was just thinking to myself how boring Souths are to watch in the WCC the other day. But I guess a boring style wins footy matches and evidently competitions; at least our premiership was exciting and won with an enjoyable brand of football.

I'm very much looking forward to this season. Their seems to be an air of confidence around the place; Pearce enthusiastically said on the news tonight that we are going to have a good season. The determination is also back, which I think was the difference between us last year and in 2013.

It may take a little while to click into gear as new combinations are forming and RTS will take time to adjust to his new role, and therefore our defence may not be its 'brick-wall' self for a while. The Cowboys away first up will be a tough ask followed by Souths away and the Riff at home, but if anything these three matches (which could be considered the more difficult of the competition based on last years form), could be the perfect start. Id prefer to be switched on right from the outset and perform with pride and focus, then play supposedly easier teams first up and just go through the motions. This should eliminate any chance of developing 'false dawns' or slipping into poor and potentially unnoticeable habits.

In regards to Ferguson, I think he looked quite silky on Saturday. Whilst he didn't cause too much trouble for the Manly defence, his aggression was evident and hopefully the feel of the game and all his natural instincts will kick into gear sooner rather than later. I'd give it a month or so before we start to see his capabilities. If he stays at right centre, I believe his first opponent will be Linnett who normally plays on the left for Cowboys. He has always been a decent defender with good pace, strength and footwork in attack so I'm sure he will keep Ferguson focussed and on his toes.
