I posted a while back that I had a chat with Beetroot Face outside the Roosterdome a couple of years back. He seems a normal person and liked a laugh when I joked with him about never seeing Cronulla win a Premiership.

He has his agendas but it is the fault of the Tellucrap for not enforcing "true journalism" - but then again, what newspaper does these days...

Personally, I didn't like his agendas re Smithy and Todd Carney (at the Roosters). So I read his articles and take what he writes as "entertainment" rather than "news". I've learned to let him go.

Just because Phil had a laugh doesn't mean much.

He can ruin people's lives and reputations without cause nor concern about the truth.

I have massive issues the way he turned on Damian Irvine. Irvine thought he had an amicable relationship with Buzz and he was made cannon fodder to suit Phils agenda. Even though Irvine saved his club.....Buzz threw him to the wolves because he could and it suited him.
I've seen so much division, anger and slander under Phils watch at news as chief editor of sport. He lacks credibility and journalistic integrity. He is a bully.

I also cannot stand the higher than thou Paul Kent, who gets on TV with Ben Ikin and attempt to debate in some rational fashion the mindset of young men who play League. That show is awful.

All good points Trew. I just have learned to let go. Phil is simply not worth it. The point I made is he is more like us than we think. He has a family to support. He probably helps out with sports teams on weekends. He could chose to rise above his and the standards of his paper but HE choses to take the easy root. That's his problem - certainly not mine.

I also do not buy that paper I go incognito on Google Chrome. This is my response as I would not pay for the "honour" of reading that rag.

I'd love to know what you edited out. I have zero respect for Phil Rothfield and the late Peter Frilingos but I would hope the worst I ever said about either of them was that they were journalists the way Stephen Glass was a journalist.
