There's an even smarter principle - it's called limiting your losses. People who throw cash around willy nilly aren't usually very good at it. They'd rather just write it off and throw some more cash around

they should give a damn, because they're throwing $400K and 10% of their total salary cap down the farking drain, so maybe it'd be wise for them to try and get a bit involved and get a bit concerned about what and when. That way they might recoup a bit of that $$ and a bit of that cap space.
