It will look like desperation and that the club is unable to get a sponsor for themselves.
All the fans need to do is buy memberships, go to games and buy merchandise.

Ummm.....you don't think we are at that stage....

Its alright, we know to cross your name off any list we are compiling for the fan club or any other moves to try and get a bit of input in to the club as a fan base....

You stick to buying your membership and merchandise....while a few of us will be trying to do that little bit more.....

Why would we only be getting $1-2K from an entire bay of die hards?

The OP suggested $100 each. Surely more than 10-20 people would be willing to cough up some dosh to become a minor sponsor or the club.

Player sponsorship is only in the realm of $7-12K or so for the season. I'm sure if given the chance the chookpen could front up a bit of cash to sponsor a young up and coming player.

Why though? Sponsors do it to get some sort of exposure and financial return. What do the chookpen members get? A fair proportion sit there because it is cheaper.. If they wanted to spend an extra $100 a year to help the club, why not do it by buying a more expensive membership package. I really think when all is said and done, you would not find that many chookpen members wanting to stump up the extra cash.

There'd need to be about 8000 chookpen people willing to kick in....

Perhaps a better plan would be for Politis and co to stay out of roster management and being quoted by the Telegraph and start earning their reputations as "corporate heavyweights" by getting out there and signing someone up.. Central Coast have a $3 mill 3 year committment without even having been admitted to the comp

If they do they are sadly mistaken.

Being quotes in the media shows that the club is serious about changing it's culture and attitude, it also highlights that management realise from the top down that there needed to be wholesale changes.

Ultimately being open and frank with your biggest critics may ultimately get you a sponsor rather than scaring them away. As for the Central Coast they are a long way from having the cash Easts leagues are reported to give three million a season and they are not known as a sponsor.

Not really - it shows that they can talk a good game, that's all.

No it doesn't. They're just pre season newspaper quotes - they get made every year. Last year they'd have been saying how exciting it was to have Fittler or how big a year Mason was going to have or some such thing

Ultimately being open and frank with your biggest critics may ultimately get you a sponsor rather than scaring them away.

Ultimately, no sponsor will be signed as a result of having read Politis quoted in the paper

Your right in one respect, it's all words at this point, however would you rather they do nothing to change people's perspective? I mean I and others just as passionate as me were fed up to the eyeballs last year and couldn't wait for the offseason. Those same people are now optimistic about the year ahead.....blind faith maybe but you can only try !

As for your comment re: Politis and his quote that's taking a very narrow opinion, it's about a gradual change similar to the way the Dogs have gone about thingd. Unfortunately we are not in a position to get there as fast

Believe me, not a single player sponsor does it to get any sort of financial return.

Most, if not all, are died in the wool easts fans who just happen to have enough cash in their business to give some to the club.

Only jersey/short sponsors would be the only companies getting actual exposure as well. For the cost of a player sponsorship you could run radio commercials for a few months.... much better returns than getting your logo shown to a few thousand footy fans who aren't even looking at the big screen!

The Dogs did make changes to their management.. Mr Comb over should have been sacked and the guys on the board need to start performing.

And I truely think that Mario and Stephen may have a winner here.......and there is really only one way to find out isnt there.....

This. Paying more money to support the club just seems like paying more for a membership
