  • Roosters and Ipswich

Post according to someone from Rleague:

    http://forums.rleague.com/showthread...850#post979850
"IJRL have agreed in principle to a partnership with the Roosters, ending the 3 year deal with the Titans. Titans offered IJRL a new deal but they went with the Roosters.

Big lose for the Titans, considering the growth of the area. It won't affect the Titans deal with the Jets it is only the IJRL.

Great get by the Roosters. Huge area of juniors.

Funny that seeing though the Roosters did **** all to support the relationship. Although we did get Crocker, Shillington and could have had Stagg if they had listened to Artie

Why? I'd rather a partnership with Bondi Utd.

The Roosters did get some good players from Redcliffe not dozens but some.
I also severely doubt that the Roosters put in much money if any to Redcliffe, the biggest thing that the players at Redcliffe would have is a perception of a path to the NRL.

But Coggie don't despair there is some tremendous work being done by those at Bondi and Clovelly (together with a new approach from the Roosters) to boost the quality (and qantity) of players within the Roosters Junior ranks.

If you consider getting, one top player...one average player....and missing out on Stagg a big deal. Then the Dolphins were a big waste of time.

Good news if we can secure a QLD cup team. I would prefer the fringe players, playing in the QLD cup, than for Newton.

Living in Brissy, i now will have team to follow more closley.

Ben just some points that you might find interesting.

2009 The roosters ditched HMatts and SG Ball as a cost cutting measure, reportedly saving over $200,000 in junior contracts (we don't have a team we don't have to pay you)

In 2009 Newtown ran the SGBall and the Hmatts was run by a committee from the 4 junior clubs. Now this ended up being a little farcical as Paddo and St Charles did very little and Bondi and Clovelly put in a lot of effort.

The HMatts had some success and this was recognised by the Roosters.
As I understand it Noyce and BSmith both highly value junior development, which is great.

I junior coordinator has been appointed to cover U13s thru SG Ball.

Large numbers of kids turned up to trial for HMatts and there is still a decent representation of local kids in the team.

It is preferred that the kids playing HMatts and SGBall stay within the Roosters junior org and play for a local club. Don't know alot of the detail but its being worked on.

While there is not alot of junior teams in the international age groups there are some quality players coming through. Clovelly for example has been the fastest growing sporting club in Australia through the 2000s.

Basically there some dedicated and hardworking individuals from Clovelly and Bondi that are now getting support from the Roosters and its great to see things changing.

Not alot of detail, but from the fringes I get the feeling that things are changing
