  • A few wyong Boys training with Roosters

Just saw a tweet from the Wyong Roos and these guys are training with the squad.

@sydneyroosters NRL pre season commenced today for @mitch_will09 @LeivahaP and Magnus Stromquist #roosallday

    http://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2014/09..._the_year.html

2 of them made the NSW VB Cup team of the year.

    HOOKER - Mitch Williams

There is not much you can say about this guy that hasn’t already been said. The body of a mouse with the heart of a lion, Williams makes this team for the second straight year and perhaps had more influence in 2014 than what he had in 2013 when he claimed VB NSW Cup Player of the Year honours. Always busy and always scheming, Williams was once again up near the pointy end of the tackle count for the season, but it is his ability to play through pain and injury, as he did late in the season, that sets him apart from many others who may have been sitting at home with their feet up on the couch.

    PROPS – Magnus Stromquist

Every team needs a Magnus Stromquist! The former Manly NYC player has been nothing short of sensational for the Roos in 2014, and playing alongside of former Kangaroo Mark O’Meley has given Magnus the confidence to take his game to another level. Stromquist lead the league in hit ups and run metres with a staggering 420 runs and he also played in all 26 of the Roos games. And he didn’t just put his hand up to carry the ball, Magnus was also top ten in the league for tackles too.

Horry, do you know what the story is with our SG Ball/Harold Mathews sides are?, I noticed that the Central Coast Centurions had Roosters logos on their training gear, does this mean they will be our SG Ball/Mathews sides or are we still running our own sides as well.

I think Mitch Williams has first shot at the vacant no. 9 jersey.

Jackson Hastings is too young to be a full time hooker, and is more suited to the halves.

Mitchell Aubusson is needed in the back row following the absence of SBW, and isn't a permanent option at rake either.

If Williams, a back to back NSW cup player of the year winner, cannot crack a first grade gig at the start of next season then he either never will, or Robbos judgement is not as we thought.

@ the end of the day like it or not clubs like Clovelly etc are not the future for a super power like Easts.... The Central coast boast a bright future and freshness that will take the Mighty Roosters into the furture and beyond..

Both the Roosters & CC will compete in the HM & SG Ball comps as separate sides.

I love the name - Magnus Stromquist.

                  Sounds like a Swedish Strongman!

Maybe he could be the next Ian Rubin.

The Sea Vermin had massive massive massive wraps on this kid when he was in their youth system a few years ago. I remember one of their fans saying he would be better than JWH one day. IDK what has happened to him since but here's to hoping anyway....
                    Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Wyong have some magnificent juniors in their system but the one that got away was Damon Goolagong. I was told this kid will be an NRL star, he has the size, speed and skill to play NRL as an outside back, I watched him in a few games this year and he is a talent. As for Magnus, he reminds me of a young Ben Hannatt, if he can make the cut, he will benefit greatly from an offseason with Robbo and our squad.

I watched him play too, he's nothing special champ.

One bloke I am excited for is Nat Butcher. He chose to come to us rather than stay at Souffs, which is great because he is a real talent.

I'd have thought he'd be sticking with Hastings and Aubusson, which wasn't as dreadful a combination as I'd feared.

It's a thread about Wyong juniors you red neck. Damon Goolagong has been mentioned as one of their most outstanding juniors who has come through their system from SG ball to NSW cup. Because Souths have signed him is irrelevant, I didn't start the thread about Wyong juniors and I didn't award Damon Goolagong with a Centurion award as the Best back and best junior, it's a matter of fact.
