  • It's a real concern

Jumping out to huge leads and then going into their shell. First Cronulla then Souffs then Penrith and last night. They are either unfit or too full of themselves and are looking for an armchair ride in the last 20, they are dicing with great danger. We have 2 games to go and I'm sure we'd all love to see two full 80 minute efforts, I had to be put on a Defibrillator last night, the team is killing me.

I'm not sure I'm enjoying football this year. It feels like my heart's about to burst through my balls every week.

        Same.
We are Minor Premiers and now in the Preliminary final yet I feel we have 'under achieved' all year. Just shows how much talent is at the club . You get very few opportunities to make/win GF's if the boys can somehow put together 80min no one will beat us. Its a big if though

Same here too BP. I didn't enjoy the last 52 minutes of last night's game and it's a pattern throughout this year. Really wish the Roosters would put in a consistent 80 minutes.

Ive said it to my brother on a few occasions this year that if the Roosters were to go back to back that you would think back over the year & come up with the conclusion "how did they do that".
They have not played a full solid 80 minutes of footy all season & they have been like an out of tuned 6 cylinder motor car coughing & splattering along instead of purring along like a well tuned V8.

The standard of footy that the Chooks have put out this year IMO has been ordinary & Im half baffled about how they have got this far, I wish them all the luck against Souths, Im never confident but I do know that the Roosters have the team to match Souths & if luck is with the Roosters, happy days.

Well said Ray, I totally agree it is a concern and one which I thought this team would have dealt with by now given the examples you provided. I actually can't wait for the season to be over, after the Roosters hopefully win the 2014 GF of course.

Ray I flew in from overseas to see the finals - i have never in my lifetime since following easts since 67 experienced so much adrenalin from being at a game. It took me until 3 to get to sleep. As I see it the game has changed dramatically - a game of momentum more so than ever before. These players today are amazing. To the cowboys credit they got back into the game with loads of possession and tries on the back of some weird circumstances yet i thought our defence was amazing considering the avalanche of cows points in basically 40 min of footy. 10 before half time and 30 min in the second half. The resolve of the roosters in the final 10 was so admirable.champion like. a moral victory and morale boosting win for the team. if we were in the usa the media would be highlighting this factor rather than pine to the negative hard done coverage.ooh and by the way my mum was close friends with your namesake ray stehr and also dave brown

Winning by 30 to nil after 25 minutes & then scrapping home to finish 31- 30 & you thought the defence was amazing.

Go & watch last years final against Manly, 4-0 win to the Roosters, that defence was what I call amazing & if that is my standard for amazing defence I would rate last nights defence as just adequate.

Definitely attitude missing in defence at times, I love toops but at the end when feldt broke away it took him two missed tackle attempts and then he still decided to walk back hoping someone would tackle feldt or eventually Thurston. Also last week when he should have been covering mini on sowards kick he was hoping the ball would go out of play and has been caught napping. Maybe I am wrong and his casual demeanour is deceiving

the game has changed over the years as to from last season mickey. not here to argue with a fellow rooster.it was a weird game as too the earlier season game against them.1 missed tackle in that game and they had 30 points on us.

You keep saying it but we are still here. Despite our bad luck with injuries and suspensions, brain-snaps, and complacency, we find ourselves heading into the preliminary final with a full-strength team.

Your "unfit" comment is way off the mark. Our forwards dominated the last 20 minutes despite all the pressure. No other team in the comp would have won that game, or the one against the Storm a few weeks ago. We have by far the fittest forwards in the comp. 50% possession next week in another free-flowing game and the overweight Souths forwards will be screaming for oxygen masks.

I think it shows the really poor standard of the comp this year, referring blunders, penalties, inconsistent suspensions, world cup, and 9s disruptions have led to a very substandard comp in my opinion.

You may have a very good point there.

It's got to the stage where some of the elite players are playing for 9 to 10 months of the year so fatigue and burnout is definitely going to be a factor. This would certainly lead to a drop in playing standard.

The big problem and I have addressed this earlier in the year is the fools who run the game have sped it up even further when the referees were struggling the last few years when the pace of the game was slower Stupidity of the highest order
