Democracy means having a choice? The iiphone does not let you expand memory, change battery, download music off certain sites and so on.
In saying that, the smart phone is a great piece of technology, as long as you back it up every month to a pc.
You shouldn't need to. All the services you really need are in the cloud anyway: music (Spotify), mail and addresses (gMail), docs (Google Drive), etc. even your app downloads are recorded with your Apple ID.
Well therein lies the problem. To merely distil having access to all the information on the planet; Ie. history, current affairs, sports data, your photos, film, education, radio, weather, stocks, finance – everything – at your fingertips is something that is universe-shatteringly incredible. Think the discovery of fire-making. Democracy. Guttenberg's press. The Wright Brothers. Neil Armstrong. The smart phone is at that level, and by some infinitesimally small coincidence, you happen to be fortunate-enough to be alive in a sweet western country where smartphones and data plans are available and accessible.
What an opportunity you're squandering.
I don't squander thanks SG. You don't know me so don't assume to tell me what you think my needs may be. I certainly don't squander my money on toys just because everyone else on the bus has one. I do love my ipod classic though as I've transferred music from friends and my late parents onto it and that makes me happy. I prefer to deal with people face to face and don't hide behind a keyboard nor a phone. I guess that makes me a very strange old fashioned girl and that's the way I like it.

Mine renews automatically, and as long as I'm not on the poverty line, I'll always buy a Membership – regardless of where I live. You gotta support your team and all that.
I just want Roosters Marketing to know that I aint signing up because of the good work they're doing. Quite the contrary, in fact. The bumbling efforts by Helliar and the team make me want to sign up less. All of these lame corporate cross-promotions that miss the mark make me sick.
But the club is bigger than any one person, so I continue.
Agreed. I will have a baby next year so I know I won't be attending all games but it would be nice to have a membership where I can pick and choose which games to attend without having to call the club to book a ticket.
I work very close to the Apple store on George Street and this young lady was arrested this morning over waiting for an iphone:
She said it was unfair that "true" Apple fans like her missed out, implying others were trying to profit off the high demand for the product.
"I just feel so excited by the iPhone but the shop did nothing [to stop people pushing in]," she said. "It's a waste of my heart, waste of my love."
As with all things, lunatics go overboard.
You do realise that you're that person who says things like, "life was so much simpler when I was a kid" and "modern music is crap, especially that head-banging stuff and rap music" while playing air guitar to Dire Straights or Sting.

Of course I do and I've never pretended to be otherwise. I just finished spring cleaning my ipod and deleted all sorts of offensive nonsense from all those Triple J albums I collected over the years to make way for more Bette Midler and Bob Seger. I'm happy with who I am and those who know and love me seem to agree.

This photo of Jake gives me goosebumps and makes me want to buy every membership on offer. He's just so tough and surely has to be on his way to being an immortal one day:
