  • Field goal practice

Does anyone know our field goal conversion rate in both 2013 and 2014?
At a guess, I think it is something like 1/8 in 2013 and about the same this year.
In the game against the Pamfers, if Maloney kicks the field goal after Pearce scored the try then it is game over.
From memory, it was not a difficult kick and there was little or no pressure on him.
I just hope the boys put in a bit more field goal practice for any tight games ahead!

We are one of the worst exponents which is very surprising with JT on the coaching staff.

We dont need goal kicks. Is we score more tries than the opposition

weve been beaten twice this year by field goals , one cost us a final yet in 2010 we got into the grand final on the back of a fantastic FIELD GOAL FROM ANASTA BEST IN HIS CAREER?

didn't JT miss a heap of FG in a single game for North Sydney many many years ago?

They all need the Freddy Fittler drill given to SKD walk around holding a ball all week then our completions may improve. As reigning premiers we finished 13th in completions that's our prob.28 weeks to fix it

I know this is Monday morning quarterbacking but...

I actually can't understand why we went for the field goal. With the 7 tackle rule this field goal is an even lower percentage play than it used to be. We should have tried to maintain pressure and get the repeat set.

anyway, as per this whole thread, shut the gate - the horse has bolted!

field goals are a soft way for points, just as dumb stat as kick returns in goals. just score tries. simple

Yes but he also won games with them and was never shy to try them as part of controlling the game.

We should be practicing holding the bloody ball for the first 20mins more than we need to worry about field goals.

                        Chook.

I'm with Chook on this one. More respect for completing sets.

                          That was painful to watch.

Trent should force them to sleep with the ball - frikkin 28 weeks into the season and our completion rates are piss weak

Field Goals are a part of the game and as such we should be prepared for them, even if they are only relevant 2 or 3 games a year.
