  • Soward's last conversion

I'm over last night but one thing keeps bugging me. End of the day it makes no difference but with his last conversion I was sitting in row C behind it and the following happened:
    - Soward was going to kick from the sideline. However, his trainer walked up and said 'no, you can kick it from 10m in... do that'
    - Soward took the ball in 10m and the ref said 'no... from the sideline mate!'
    - There was a pretty long negotiation after which Soward just put it 10m in anyway, with the ref having to come back and say 'no, I told you from the sideline!!!'
    - Soward then took it to the sideline and moved it in 5m when the ref wasn't looking. The ref turned around and pretty well went 'aaaaw **** it!!'

End of the day Soward kicked a good conversion and while I hate the guy, good on him. BUT does it count when the ref has said 'no you can't kick it from there?!?!?' In the back of my mind I'm still thinking that disobeying the ref when he says 'kick it from here' (and having a heated argument with him) is a bit dodgy.

FWIW the try wasn't right in the corner and I think Soward kicked from the right place, but it wasn't where the ref told him to kick from. IMO the trainer advised him to intentionally go out further than he was allowed then argue the point so that he might at least get 1/2 way. Is this a common negotiation tactic?

he did it earlier as well. when they got the penality. and the took the 2. one ref called a penality and sowrd walked infield towards the other ref and gained 5 meters closer to the posts.

Great..another reason for him to make my skin crawl. He's a deadset arrogant little brat and I sincerely hope Karma Kramer comes back to bite him. I know Riff fans who cannot stand him..not today I'm sure though...

It evens up as we got a goal from Maloney he was not allowed to kick as he was not on the field when we scored the try.

They were wrong with Parker, they were wrong with Maloney.

The point is we can't complain about Soward, it evened up.

Corey Parker was allowed to under the new concussion rules as Dale Copley (concussed) was off. Under the concussion rules, Parker is allowed to come in as a free substitute as they're unsure whether or not Copley is actually concussed. Thus, the kick was legal. Maloney was not concussed. He came off due to an ankle injury and was substituted back on after we had scored. That was illegal.

If Soward had come on in similar circumstances, this place would have exploded, saying that it's 100% proof the NRL are corrupt and want us out of the finals

Thanks CN for the sensible explanation. We don't get many of them around these parts..

He really is the ugliest man alive. In the end tho I think the try was scored about 5metres in field anyway.

correct , hes so jealous of jnr jnr being the top halfback whilst he was let go from the roosters and so his journey of despair started!
he used to be very emotional and would have once let the chookpen chants get to him, im sure a lot of professional money has been spent correcting those mental deficiancies, last night he just focussed more on the job at hand and killed us like the 2010 grand final! we wont make that mistake around him again!

What an absolutely ridiculous thread The try was scored 5 metres in from touvh the kick was taken their These types of threads destroy the credibility we do have when blowing up about the bias refereeing which goes on aginst us on an almost weekly basis
