  • lack of respect is what cost us

lack of respect for the panthers

    lack of respect for possession

lack of respect for our game plan

lack of respect for what we have built over the last 2 years

Robbo will be disgusted with that performance, going to be extremely hard to pick ourselves up after that.

I'm just gutted we didn't turn up. We had the perfect chance to get to another Grand Final with missing the current top 2 sides in the 8 in Cowboys and Souths...now we will have to go through both of them. It won't be easy but gotta have faith.

we might go thru one ... but not both cows/souffs ..disappointing after the last month , but the signs were there during the year
( cowboys hammering / the Cronulla surrender ) , that his team lacked the killer edge from 2013.

We also lacked ergencey & desperation. Jennings walking back when the ball was thrown back, no one turned and showed any desperation for the ball when it was thrown back in. Too much basic errors. We couldn't get in the grind with our %53 completion rate.

Well said all here. I agree there was a lack of urgency and desperation. The other side copped two clear bad calls and the Roosters copped one or more as well but shot themselves in the foot regularly. Not sure where the Roosters go from here.

This has been the problem with all the top teams this season. They drop intensity against the so called weaker teams and try to blow them off the park, this usually results in low completions and high error rates. The problem this year, the perceived weaker teams on their day are giant killers and there isn't a whole lot of difference between them and the top teams when they turn up ready to play. We will account for Cowboys and depending if we can come through that game unscathed we will be ready for Souths.

Was about to say teh same thing.
Did the ref keep em appart enough on the night to throw the ball around ? Was the ref constantly slowing up play a fair bit? probably did but good teams have to adjust to that tempo and that where I welsome Jake friend.
at least 50 times last nigh penriff had 3 markers ...that wa sdissapointing officialdom.
Unfortunately the refs focus on us too much and not the opposition.

We played like crap! they threw everything at us ! We were on the wrong side of the penalty count and they only got us by a point on the 79th minute!!
Mmm god I hope we meet these f#####rs again.
                We should really hammer them.

We were always going to struggle to beat the Gould/Cleary coached Panthers without our best players all on the field.
                  Missing Friend, Guerra, Napa.

Yes, the new "Fibros" were seemingly allowed to do as they pleased...offside all night, 3 markers all night, markers allowed to stand wherever they liked, hold our players down all night, etc.

                  Unfortunately.

Hard to beat the 'teacher's pet' teams.

I guess the 'Soward's a Wanker' chant last night also comes under lack of respect.
I knew that was going to come back and bite us in a close game that came down to a field goal.
Obviously fired him up and probably his team mates in support.

                    RESPECT
That was the mantra for our incredible success in 2013 and is even more important when you are the the premiers trying to defend your title. Lack of respect for 'unworthy' teams (eg. Sharks, Newcastle and now Penrith)
is a major reason why it is so difficult to win back to back premierships as every team in the competition wants to take the premiers down.
We need to earn it again with a quality win against the Cowboys.

If we can't beat the Cows with or without some of our players then we don't deserve to be in the last four.

Our completion rates is the problem - Penrith are number 1 at completion rates and that's what kept them in the game as too a freakish try and one sided refs

Our worst completion rates all came against sides we were supposed to beat. It's a mental thing with us. If we hold the ball we can beat anyone. It's simple yet difficult.

                          Go Easts.
