  • Forget the last 10 minutes

Our blokes were running on empty after a 5 day turnaround in wet and draining conditions.

They did not even look like scoring until Double Steamers brain snap.

Guerra and Napa are replaced by Maubs, Evans and maybe Stranger / Hastings combo off the bench, Young SOH did not look out of place in 1st grade

    We have the Vermins measure

Someone needs to kick Double Steamers backside. All the tries were scored on his wing.

He makes Tuiqiri look like a world beater some times.
    SUPER DRAGON!

          Agree.

It was very noticeable that our blokes were running out of puff when the score reached 22 -2.

SBW was out on his feet.

I reckon everyone's being a bit harsh on DoubleSteamer.

He did what any player would've done, half tackled, arm free, sees a player looming and offloads thinking it's RTS or someone sniffing around for an offload.

PearceOrf said that was the plan, push up in support and throw that last pass. It was even said after 1/2 time by the coach to Freddy from memory.

I reckon it's time to stop blaming one player on everything that happens in a game. Especially when that could've happened to anyone.

I am massive Double Steamer fan, always been partial to a cleveland steamer, however, matchplan or not 3rd tackle, 15 to go 30 out from your tryline after defending so well is not the time for a cute offlaod. He will learn from it.( i hope)

Guerra looked like he was about to collapse trying to get onside in the last 10 minutes. I thought we were completely gone. Lucky we just held on.

I don't know that that game taught us much at all.

In some ways we dominated. But we failed to put them away. Souths came back strong and nearly jagged the win.

Souths definitely wouldn't be thinking we're unbeatable after that.

Particularly as Guerra, Nappa and possibly JWH are likely to be sidelined.

We are not looking too crash hot for next weeks line up...lets hope FPN and Friend can play .
Dumbest player of the night was Toupo - hesingle handedly put Souffs back on the map .head went down and walked around after that for Souffs to put another one on him.

We dominated Souffs forward pack without our 1st and second string hooker and our lock. Probably our two toughest defenders.

We did that after 3 games in 11 days, in 2 countries and 2 in the wet.

We also had a centre/back rower at hooker and a debutant 18 year old out of position as backup.

Sure they missed their 1/2 back.

But they rely on their pack. And we smashed the carnts.

                      No teams unbeatable.

                      Glass is 1/2 full.

                      Enjoyment is key.

It was one mistake and he got done by Luke's experience. I'm sure he would have made that call. As for the rest, well it's up to the experienced players to overcome that but I can agree that they were probably stuffed from the Storm game. Toupo did some good defending in a tough game.

He is equally adept at either half or hooker. He repped NSW jnrs and Aust Schoolboys in both positions. As you could see last night his defense is sound against a monster forward pack and his ball distribution from dummy half was crisp.

                            Mate I enjoyed his debut.

IMO his service wasn't crisp as you put it. Not bagging the kid I wouldn't expect crisp in his first outing, he threw a few sloppy passes and had to look up often to see who he was going to hit. I know just as Maubs came to the sideline he threw a pass to nobody and I said at the time it's time to get Maubs back out there.

In the more unfamiliar position of hooker in the top grade, especially considering the occasion and weather and opposition, I think he did a fine job.

First grade is farking hard and by no means am I bagging his first run. Just calling what I saw.

He stood up in defence. His body will thicken too over the next few seasons, he's gonna have a PearceOrf type build.

If those two end up playing together we will have some size and defence in the 1/2s.

I know he's played some hooker before but in reality he is a halve first and foremost. Like his Dad I gather he has that toughness to play anywhere. And I guess except for injury or rep footy for our 1/2s now he will play a lot of his early 1st grade footy as a backup 9 or utility.

In fact the similarities to PearceOrf are evident at this early stage.

I'm looking forward to his development till last night I hadn't seen a lot of him. He lives up to the hype IMO.

I reckon young Jacko could fill the utility spot on the bench very nicely in 2015. Espec considering he can play FB, half or hooker. As Maubs should take over the vacancy in the second row, the utility role will be vacant.

Have him play regular quality minutes rather the quantity. Just as Dan Mortimer did in 2013. Give the occasional game for the Wyong Roos to get more miles in his legs when required.
