  • Whos motivation is greater?

Will our boys do it for Mini for the next few rounds or will the Titans step up for carty? It's a dangerous game all the more because we lost to them around this time last year as well as Friend being out. It's a worry.

I'd say the Titans, because this is Carty's last match whilst Mini still has a while to go (hopefully deep into the finals)

If results go as they should this week, we will be sitting in 8th on Monday morning. I'm hoping the boys use this as motivation for the match, as a win would obviously see them get back into the top 4

I'd say us because we are still in contention to win the comp!

But all of the other teams play before us? Or are you saying that because you think we will lose?

I think the boys will be pretty keen to make a statement. I have already heard a 1000 times this week that the Souffs v Seagles game is a GF preview and I can see our guys taking some offence at that. Added to the Mini aside and the fact we have already lost to Cronulla and Knights, I can't see it happening a 3rd time

That should be the biggest motivation, I can definitely see us sitting 8th before our match starts, warriors need to beat sharks by about 30odd (which they will probably do comfortably) and cows need to beat tigers by 20, again very possible.

On the flip side, with a good win, we could possibly jump in 2nd spot (souths lose to manly and panthers lose to dragons)

Biggest games of the season positionally.

Souths +- is much greater than ours. Too far to catch up in one round I feel so it's 3rd at best. Then gain, manly might give them a good smack and we beat Titans with enough points to catch up

Talking about lol@souffs, it appears as though they are starting to read their own press and feel like they are specials for the comp. On tv, alot of their players and their coach have both laughed off bennetts words and talked up their own chances, stating they are playing well and happy with where they are at.

It's all well and good to be happy with themselves, but if they are currently playing at their peak, I highly doubt they will win too many games against the top sides when it matters. Trent always says we must improve; he constantly said that last year, and look how we finished compared to Souths.

Gee didn't realise souths were 60 odd points infront of us. I suppose when you smack the crap teams like they deserve to be, that is what happens.

Souths now boast the best for, and against in the comp, it's where we were last year.

                      Both are great motivators.

The more important question, the question that will actually have the largest bearing on the result - who's the better side? In which case it's us.

Means very little sometimes, sharks boasted a nsw cup side and beat us, knights very similar.

Having no motivation can be detrimental, scratch that is detrimental to a sides chance of winning. But that's clearly not the point of the thread.

The OP is asking who's motivation is greater asserting the greater the motivation will reveal the winner.

I don't buy that for a second, both teams have a lot to play for and the game will more likely be decided by who is the better team not by who has the slightly greater motivation. And yes I should give mention to the refs for those who are following along

The motivation is higher for the titans, with this being his last game in charge.

But the pressure of the motivation can be detrimental to the side, in that, not only knowing that it is the coaches last game, but also, a loss is the final nail in your season too.

The titans will definitely come out firing, its just a matter of weathering that early storm. I doubt they will be able to play at 200% for the whole match, as playing on emotion doesn't last.

You'd also hope we wouldn't be complacent after the Sharks and Knights games. It's all about turning up with the right attitude this week
