Top 4 is a must if we're any hope
I think this year, a team may surprise and win from outside the 4(still no standout team for me), finishing 5/6 would still give you a home final, and then it may fall in place that we play the next game at sfs also. The bonus is that the furthest we would have to travel would be ANZ.

Finishing top 4 does not guarantee you an easier run if you lose the first game, you still have to play 4 games, manly were top 4 last year, and had a very tough run getting to the GF.

Finishing 5th could mean hosting a home final v the likes of parra, tigers, broncs, then the week after facing a team such as dogs or panthers who lost a tough game v manly or souths the week before.

the theory is thrown out the window if we finish 7th and play warriors across the ditch who finish 6th and we bow out week 1.

I wouldn't compare it to AFL. Every year the top 2 or 3 teams in AFL are so far ahead of the pack compared to NRL.

I can't see any game being played outside of Sydney this year either unless the Warriors go on a run.

I love the blind faith you lot have in the team, I am hoping for the miracle too happen as well, but am not holding my breath here, we have just been too bad this season.

5th and 6th place get a home game in week 1 of the finals.

As I said, I can only see the Warriors getting a home game. They do have an outside chance of finishing in the top 2.
We would have to finish 7th or 8th and them 4th or 5th to play them over there.
I can't see us playing a Queensland team or the Storm in the first week. And we would have to play crap for the rest of the season to play the Warriors in which case it wouldn't matter.

I have solid doubts about our chances to win it this year but I would take this year over 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012 and just about any year between 82 and 95.

Ahh ok Buddy, sorry I misconstrued your post, I didn't realise you were referring to finals games that we could be involved in. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
