          Makes perfect, logical sense.

Hypocritical would be if the NRL execs were allowed to on NRL fixtures but everyone else in the game wasn't allowed to. What you describe above has nothing to do with hypocrisy.
What other sponsor in the game is a player not allowed to utilise? None.

I dont see a problem with betting on matches other than your own. Plenty of ways around it anyway. Also you think teams with player's like JT, hayne or cam smith dont get on juicy odds depending if one of these star players are playing or not? The coach knows 3 days out whether or not a player will play, and includes them in at the last minute.

Parramatta without hayne $2.50, late inclusion and they drop to $1.70.

            Doesn't matter.

For once, I'm with the NRL on this tough stance. The last thing we want is a sport crippled by match fixing. The line in the sand has been drawn.
            Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

I think it's better that players are transparent about it, nothing stops a player using his mates acct to bet on if they want to put a bet on. We have a punter's club acct and over 10 of us can bet with it.

Much like most of what the NRL does, that was bullshit. They know who's doing what and turn a blind eye.

I'd might believe all the NRL's self-righteousness...if it named the "16 officials" who are alleged to have bet on NRL games.

Secrecy = suspicion, and loss of integrity...in the eyes of many fans.

Erin Molan stated on the footy show tonight that he backed himself several times last year to be top tryscorer.

Imagine the irony if one of those was the GF.

If they caught and outed every NRL player that has a bet on the footy, there would be not enough players left to field a few teams. Anyone who knows any current players know that a very high percentage love a punt on the footy.

                            Too right E75.

Take it as fact that there were numerous players from various clubs (including this one) that placed bets on a variety of markets surrounding origin.

I feel sorry for Lowe.He maintains he never placed a bet with Centerbet ever. The audit found an account in his name and that 2 bets had been placed at the start of 2013.The account was closed down after no appropriate id was provided to Centerbet. The cows believe it was someone else but cannot prove it.
