This is a must for next year, Mini playing or not. Mini will still communicate/organise defence, but Jake would really step up and provide direction. 24-0 up, roll forward and kick to the ****ing corners and defend. Pearce and Maloney needed to stop shifting it and pushing passes. If Jake was captain I can see him taking charge and barking orders

I don't know about this to be honest.
Leadership comes in many different forms & you don't need to be the captain to be a great leader. Friend leads with his actions and there's no doubt his team mates get a lot of inspiration from that. JWH leads with his aggression, when he's on & firing everyone rallies behind him. However I'm not convinced either would make great captains. That's not to say their leadership isn't as valuable as a captain but when you break down the roles of a captain these days I'm just not sure it suits either of them.
From what we see on the outside (and it is limited) I tend to think Sam Moa would make the best captain. He speaks very well & handles the media with ease, he's well liked & respected, lives a clean lifestyle and has all the wisdom of someone who couldn't crack it in the NRL, had to go over to England to get a start and now he's an International rep.
A great captain in the modern day is IMO someone who can handle the media and refs (well spoken), someone who the youngsters look up to and admire (trains hard & plays just as hard), someone well liked, someone who can inspire through actions on the field & someone who can impart wisdom on the kids coming through into First Grade.
Sam Moa just ticks every box for mine.

One of our halves need to take ownership and lead the team around the park. Last night we were trying to score off every play. Someone needed to step in , get vocal, and tell them to pull their head in. Ideally, this would come from one of your playmakers. Problem is, neither of them are leaders IMOEmbrace the Hate! JC

Maloney was vocal but he may have said the wrong stuff
Most of us would have thought Mini was not captain material for almost 10 years."Qui audet adipiscitur"
