    Salvatori,
I was never bullied about my race (I'm a "whitey") but I have some excellent relationships with Greek, Jordanian and Lebanese families, in particular. I can empathise with anyone who has been racially villified and agree it is not right. Where I draw the line is humour is humour and we should celebrate and laugh together about our cultural and physical differences. One of my funniest nights I ever had was with a West Indian driving a black cab in London where we laughed about how funny white people are.

To me, the difference is when one aims to put another down to make himself feel better than the other person. This is wrong. I hate PC and the knee-jerk corrections people make when something is slightly "unacceptable" by today's current thinking. Current thinking will change, in time.

I think back to John O'Grady's 1957 book (psuedonom Nino Culotta) "Theyre a Weird Mob". Worth a read, worth a laugh. Sums up how we can all get along with common sense and without the PC brigade policing us.

I did the same - as I do each Sunday arvo when I'm home as I generally refuse to give 9 the satisfaction of watching the game on delay.

I listened to the 2nd half of Sunday's game on MMM while watching the first half with the mute button on 9. Sounds strange I know, but it worked for me. Thankfully I have digital radios so could listen to our game rather than the Swannies in the AFL.

I've never been a fan of the 2GB so didn't actually listen to any radio commentating until MMM got the FM rights. Now I listen to it all the time.

MMM had good interviews with Remi and Roger after the game which were far more entertaining than listening to Rabs and Gould dribble on. Even after I turned the radio off, the TV mute button stayed on. I did suffer their commentary during the replay yesterday and gee it was painful.

I just thought it was unprofessional the way tehy just talked Melbourne up all day Gould should not be calling matches plain and simple with his position at Penrith

I still remember when I was quite young ande my parents took us to the drive in for NYE one year to see a Carry On Film. We all cacked ourselves with laughter all the way through it, although I would have had no idea what I was actually laughing at.

Our family were Carry On, On the Buses and Love they Neighbour devotees. Not to mention that wartime comedy I think was called Ello Ello (could be wrong there). And my parents were German!

And of course who could forget our own legendary Kingswood Country. I remember one Aus Day a few years ago one of the Fox channels showed a KC marathon and I sat there entertained all bloody day. Some of it was cringeworthy but there were great one liners as well.

Yes, perhaps there's something wrong with me but I'd rather watch all of the above than an episode of Friends, Sex in the City and the like.

I wouldn't put FT in the same solar system as the rest of the dross being put up in this thread. Now that was a brilliant show.

There's a movie based on that book, Axe man - have you seen it?

Nice post Axe. I agree with you very much. I have a similar attitude towards homophobia as well. When you eliminate humour for the sake of it being possibly racist then I feel something greater has been lost.

The only funny about seeing two guys holding hands and kissing in bondi junction the other day, was hearing a lady trying to explain to her son why they were doing it.
she said something like, it is not right and we don't need to mention this again.

But that's not what I'm talking about. Satire, or holding up the mirror in a clever, thought-provoking way is unreal. Lazy, thoughtless stereotyping dressed up as comedy is another thing altogether.

Think Borat vs. Love Thy Neighbour.
