That is why i love Leichhardt Oval, sure the ground is ancient and needs some serious$$$$ spent to upgrade it but the seating around the perimeter and the hill is so close to the action, going to watch a game at Leichhardt is like stepping back in time.

Geez,i think the last time i sat or stood on the Penrith Hill was back in 1995,it was around the time when it was announced we were going to get Fittler and Sing for the following year.It was also Rod Silvas last game for the Roosters in reserve grade because he announced he was joining Stooper League.
As for hills though, nothing beat the hill at the old Sports Ground, except when it rained of course.

getting off topic a little, I remember a try Rod Silva scored against Penrith one sunday where he made a break down the right hand side and for about the 30m he had to run until he got to the fullback he did this Brett Kenny like stepping one way and then the next and by the time he got to him the poor fullback was in a trance watching Silvas feet and Silva just went bang with the right foot step and he was gone. I can still hear Ray Hadley..." Oh Silva, BRILLIANT..."

And he scored one against the tigers one saturday when he caught the tigers line dropout on about the 40, put the left foot step on to get through the line and then the right foot to get past the fullback and under the posts, untouched. Amazing stuff

Silva was the man. Wicked step.

They've put the curse on the team those abominations of a jersey.
