  • Goal kicking

Maloney has kicked 23 consecutive goals up to his injury yesterday.

Of the 30 shots he's taken this year, he has only missed 2 (both against Parramatta - when he kicked 8 and might have got tired).

I was only thinking yesterday he must have kicked a few in a row because I couldn't remember him missing one in weeks.

    We'll miss him bad.

Unfortunately our stocks a pretty thread bare when it comes to goal kicking if Maloney is out.Mortimer would probably be the next best option, after that day light.Boyd Cordner kicked in one game last year and his shots were very ordinary.

His goal kicking possibly won us a GF.

Hopefully we score most of our tries under the posts in his absence.

        Even then we're a worry.

What is the record for consectutive goal kicks now? I was thinking Maloney may have been creeping closer to it after last nights haul. The trouble is Maloney rarely looks like he is going to miss a shot even when he is wide out, last year some of the few he missed hit the posts, you cant get any closer than that.

What was so bad about RTS's kick yesterday?
I remember Boyd missing a kick last year from a lot closer by just as much as RTS did yesterday

Probably wasn't bad for a stop gap kicker but I reckon even closer to the post RTS would have struggled just like Boyd did last year.We are very thin in the goal kicking department without Maloney.

It'll be Hastings or Morts, whoever takes over the 5/8 role. Most likely the latter.

The goal kicking will become an issue with Jimmy out injured. Got to hope we score most of our tries close to the posts. You'd assume Morts will get the job. As for Cords , his goal kicking was shocking last year!

Is there not a chance SBW plays 5/8 though? Maybe we'll run with Mortimer just so he can kick goals...or at least try to.

I think Mini should be the kicker as long as you get another go if you miss the ball completely.
