  • Moa

Been our best player this year imo. Every week he steps up and puts in strong performances.
Surely we have to re-sign him. Would be a dumb move to sign the likes of Proctor and Fergwit and lose Moa.

its not a matter of whether we want to keep him, the problem is he has received very healthy offers to leave.

Offers we could surely come close to matching had we not been looking at plodders like Proctor.

I've always felt we don't need to replace SBW...just focus on upgrading the likes of Moa, Liu, Napa etc.

The Storm, Sea Eagles and Rabbits will all be weaker next year so we wouldn't lose much ground by not signing replacements for Sonny.

          Been very solid.

In terms of value I'd rate him up there as the best budget buy in the NRL for at least the last decade. Up there with Brett Mullins as one of my favourite cheapies of all time.

That's just my opinion of course, albeit one eyed...

Yeah for sure, we have enough depth to over SBW so I'm not sure why we need to sign anyone, just use his money to keep our current roster.

Hopefully Moa has fallen in love with the roosters, but he is 29 so wouldn't blame him if he took a big offer elsewhere

              He's 27 (28 in June).

Even more reason to sign him long term.

Give him a 4 year deal.

Oh okay. Well yeah sounds like a good deal, I think such a long term deal would inspire more out of him, if possible.

Makes me wonder why Evans was re-signed before Moa too...

I am a fan of Sam "Victa" Moa but I do not believe the club should pay an excessive amount to retain his services.

I heard Souths offered Evans a contract but he declined, opting to sign with the chooks for less money than Souths offer.

Spot on. Sam Moa is a champion.
It pissed me off last yr when media kept raving about sbw, jennings and maloney. Great buys, but Moa is right up there with them and did not get the credit he deserved

Sam Moa and JWH are the engine room of this club, they need to be lifer's.

Love Moa. Can't speak highly enough of the bloke. He's a top class player and deserves a salary that represents that.

Struggled at Cronulla in Reserve grade so went over to England so see if he could start getting some first grade footy. Met a bloke called Fitzy who taught him all about professionalism; from diet to training & he took it all on board. Killed it over in England, got a chance to come back to Australia and not for 1 second has he taken it for granted. Done our jersey proud every time he's run out on the field regardless of how everyone around him might be playing.

He's turning 28 and probably looking at contracts that pay as much PER YEAR as he has earnt in his whole career (maybe a little exaggerated). I can't begrudge him if he chases the money, if anyone deserves it it's him. Maybe we get a few good will points in his decision making process for taking that chance on him but this could well be his last contract in Rugby League and if he wants to set himself up for the future like I said who could honestly hold it against him.

He stands for everything that's great about Rugby League, I hope we can keep hold of him but if he does leave I'll forever be a supporter of his.

What's an excessive amount? He would easily be worth $350K a season and probably more.

Correct. Consistent props are very hard to find in this day and age.

Also doesn't strike me as a player that will go down a gear once he signs a long term contract.
