Yeh that was a very heads up play and showed all his experience and determination there.

Still had a poor game though and his attempted tackles on 3 other linebreaks were nothing short of embarrassing.

I also thought Jimmy's goal line defence yesterday was awesome, came up with some really tough and crucial tackles when we were pinned on our own line in the first half.

And I agree about RTS. I can see why the coach hung onto Mini. RTS has all the natural talent in the world but is too raw as yet for the FB role full time.

In that way he's similar to a young Mini. Too good to leave out of first grade, plenty of potential, just needs time to learn the finer points of playing a very important possie. Luckily like Mini he has a player well qualified to help guide his progression.

Of course they are vastly different skills wise, but both have followed a similar progression path.

Exactly. And thats why i will always be a fan of Mini, despite his one on one defence and his bloody inability to take the inside pass. 😖 Positionally, he is fantastic and can teach shrek a lot. And he is the sort of team player that if Trent decided Shrek was right to now play fullback fulltime, he would cop it on the chin and do whats best for the team. Mini is an absolute champion, and for the faults i have mentioned, he is still the best i have ever seen under the bomb.

I was at the game and the re-start try was particularly dissapointing. I was screaming for them to get back, they just seemed to amble back no urgency at all. Their body language in the 2nd half seemed negative, saying that they rallied like all good teams do and finished over the top.
Hopefully the win will give them a confidence boost heading into next week.

Carney was definately a speed bump,

Maloney came with a reputation as a bad defender. Like Mini and his poor defence, not wanted but it is expected

If it was agenda driving this post, i would have bagged him like others have for our bad start to the season.
lol bullshit. If you watched the game without the agenda you'd have seen Pearce busted his arse in defence more than most of the squad.

            Chook.

Never said he didn't bust his arse, in fact that has never been my criticism of him, whilst others have bagged him for our poor form this year, i haven't, his defence was poor IMO.

Remember Finch used to try hard also, enough said!!

Lol..what's your definition of a good game then and overall what other fullback makes every one on one?

The famous 'Spider Monkey' from a few years back made a come back last night.

Had to laugh, we had a spider monkey, a nutmeg and a dropped inside ball all in the space of about 5 minutes.....I was hoping they were going to sin bin him......only joking.

Hope they've already tapped him on the shoulder about next year.

No matter what happens with Mini, and i do hope its his last season, i really hope they keep him on in some role. The guy is a Club legend and a statue out the front of the SFS would not be out of place. He has done that much for this Club since he was a kid, and his loyalty is unquestioned. I love you Mini.......but stop the bloody arm grabbing!

Tbh, I do think it's concerning that supposedly one of the best defensive halves in the NRL is in the top 5 of NRL's most mistackles

May be as a result of team's targeting him a lot more? Maloney is up there, as always, but his defence has always been suspect

However, we also are struggling big-time, as a club, when it comes to defence:

Line-break ability does not seem to be hampered all that much:

So, execution down the attacking zone is lacking

Until my post a couple of days ago i haven't bagged the bloke for near 12 months, i like how he has been playing, i just think there were some bad efforts on his part on Saturday night, there were some other awful efforts in defence, they have already been covered by other posters.

You want to turn him into a statue? I know some of his performances aren't what they once were but he deserves better than having magpies crap all over him.
