  • Roger Tuivasa-Surrender

Why do the refs call him for a surrender every time he takes a hit up?

They seem to be confusing his brilliant footwork with an attempt to go to ground for some very bizarre reason.

The fact that he gets called for it so often WREAKS of another tip sheet on one of our players.

The same type of tip sheet that's been thrown in the bin now a certain MLK is a Bronco.

I think they call a surrender if the running player hit the ground with both his elbows.....thats what im seeing

if a player hits the ground with his elbows its the perfect chance to get up quickly and play rthe ball, calling surrender allows opposition to lay all over him hence its a form of cheating from the refs? what a surprise?

I always thought that this surrender tackle rule was crap.Surrender don't surrender?.Who gives a fark just knock em on their ass let em get up and then knock em down again. Its an easy game really but complicated by bullshit rules like this.

simple solution is to call dominant tackle. let the tacklers dominate the tackle. reward the tacklers

The other rule that shits me is when a player makes a great tackle around the boot laces. They can't hold on longer and gets penalised straight away. No reward at all for a good clean tackle.

The easiest way to eliminate the wrestle is to call dominant and allow players to mark up and slow the play the ball down ONLY when they complete a one on one low tackle. It would quickly take our game back to the 90s pre-wrestle. It won't affect ball movement negatively. And it will stop coaches using athletes over footballers generally.

This all goes back to Waynekerr and MrSheens and their steroid regimes of the early 90s. They influenced the Reffs and rule makers and started the athlete over footballer trend that's epidemic these days.

Waynekerr also started the wrestle that's now choking the game.

              You know it makes sense.

Can't agree with you there. Bellamy and the Storm started the wrestle, Bennett had nothing to do with it

Mate years ago Waynekerr tried to bait the Reffs in the media about Melbas wrestling, it was leading into a semi series, and Bellyache arced up about the accusations that he invented wrestling.

What he said was while he was assistant at The Wankos in the late 90s he was instructed by the head coach to hire the best wrestling coach available and that is where the wrestling in the game started.

I recall the issue and I recall the lack of defence or reply from Waynekerr at the time.

Shame I can't provide a link it was a long time ago.

Backwards is correct on this one. Remember reading the article about it and I don't remember Bennett refuting it. Again apologies for not being able to find a link...but if I do stumble across it will put it up in this site.

Backwards is 100% right Bennett introduced them in the Brisbane days but Bellamy is just much better at it than him and is a better coach too.

Bennett is the biggest prick in the game. When things are going his way he is nowhere to be seen when things go against his team he uses his influence to do what's "best" for the game.

The best was when he went to Newcastle and whinged about wrestling and a slow game when playing the Dragons, the team he had coached the year before.

He never whinged about wrestling or a slow ruck when coaching the Dragons who were the most boring football side I have ever seen win a premiership.

Also backwards on the legs tackle I've had a simple solution for many years. If a player makes a 1 on 1 legs tackle the ball can't be played until he gets to marker.

Would solve plenty of problems and take some wrestling out of the game.
