  • Is Jake Friend an 80 minute hooker?

Thought he played well for the 80, his service from dummy half was pretty good, great defensive effort and he tried his guts out for the 80. Thoughts??

Jake likes playing the 80 mins and hates being replaced. But sometimes it's good to give him a break 10 mins before half time and then 10 after and then throw him back on.

He was my Roosters man of the match last night and he is tailor made for these types of grinding tight games because he will not back down from a challenge.

You wait until he starts playing Origin and us NSW fans won't want him playing many minutes at all.

I can see (c) next to his name in the near future.

I would play Friend for 80 minutes & unfortunately replace Mortimer with Samsoni Langi.
Mortimer IMO is adding nothing to the side at the moment. If Friend needs a rest I would move Maloney to dummy half & put Langi at 5/8 or otherwise put Langi in the backrow & Williams to 5/8.

Langi doesn't even dominate at Newtown.

Im not worried about dominating I just think he would add at least as much as what Mortimer is adding at the moment if not more. He has looked pretty good the few times I have seen him play, he is a ball player who has a bit of size that can read a game.

Then why is he still on our books?

Seriously who dominates in the 2nd grade comp?

Mortimer did. Took 'em to the premiership.

If he was dominating as you say then he would not have played the majority of games for Newtown that year they won the comp, he would have forced his way into the FG 17.

Come to think of it, Jake played for Newtown in the 2008 grand final against Wentworthville. That game went on for 100 minutes and I still have it on VHS.

To clarify your statement, the coach before Trent Robinson was a mindless idiot who played games and wouldn't know real talent if it rubbed it's arse in his face but your statement is valid.

I say again, Morty is off to pastures new sooner rather than later.

                          Whatever. Langi's worse than Mortimer.

Morts will obviously be in the team come origin but will he be selected week in week out having been dropped against parra?

I would love to see Friend playing. 80. For what it allows us to carry on the bench. I think there are other avenues for friend to catch a break during a game other than having morts there for 10 mins a game-like him defending in the fringe for a set or two.

But Trent is nrl coach and I am a nuffie. So what ever tents goes with.
