Easts have lost 3 games in a row by an average of less than 4 points each.
In other words, but for a couple of decisions or bounces of the ball, they could easily have won all 3.
SBW missed out on winning it for us by half a millimetre in the dying stages (great tackle by Hayne BTW - for a long time he's been far too good a player to be in a team of losers as Parra have been up until this year. They are not a bad team at all)
For the 4th time out of 5 games our opponents have been so disciplined as to concede 4 penalties or less in 80 minutes. This was Parra's first penalty count win and they did it in style! Even though I saw a lot of hands and knees on the ball from Parra players tonight in almost every tackle that the pink men didn't see.
For a team low in confidence they needed one or two things to go their way. Apart from one forward pass (that didn't lead to anything for us) we were not allowed any favours by the refs. We aren't playing with enough confidence to overcome such adversity the same way we did last year. Indeed we may turn out not to be good enough to all this year (looks like the refereeing bias will remain alive and well).
But talk of being "gone" or spoon contenders is frustration talking. The coach and players do not need execution by firing squad as just about all on this forum seem to believe.
Flame away.
