  • Kane Evans signs long-term contract.

Kane Evans extends deal until 2017

The Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce that exciting young prop Kane Evans has made a long-term commitment to the Club, signing an extension until the end of the 2017 season.

22 year-old Evans expressed his delight at extending his contract with the Tricolours.

“I’ve been at the Roosters since I was 17 and the Club has treated me so well ever since I got here. I’m learning so much from Robbo and all the coaching staff and I’m so happy to stay with the Roosters and work towards building my career here,” said Evans.

“Hopefully I’ll continue to learn and improve as I play alongside the great squad here at the Roosters,” he added.

The re-signing of Evans ensures a core group of players who have come through the Roosters junior ranks together – including Dylan Napa, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Tautau Moga – will continue to grow and develop at the Club.

Roosters Chief Operating Officer Football, Brian Canavan, was pleased to have Evans locked into the Club’s long-term plans.

“Kane has been a wonderful asset to the Club both on and off the field. He has an infectious personality and is a fierce competitor, and we look forward to watching his continued development in the coming years,” said Canavan.

Evans made his NRL debut in Round 2 of the 2014 NRL season. He also represented Fiji in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
Excellent, he's still years away from hitting his peak so the club has to keep the faith in Kane, patience will win the day.

      Excellent!

Front rowers take a few years to hit their straps so it's good to see that we'll benefit from his development.

I'm sure he'll be a mainstay in the team from around 2016 onwards.

judging by that press release TauTau Moga has also extended his stay at the Roosters, his contract was also up at the end of 2014

they might wait till he begins playing again to announce he has extended his contract.

That re-signing (if true) will be the start of a marvellous decade or so for us fans to watch him dazzle many many teams, I really can't wait to see him fully fit in our colours.

Also very happy re-signed Kane. I have been really impressed in his first few matches. I'm thinking him and Liu should form our front row rotation for a while (at least till casty plays)

Evans is a very important re-signing because you get the feeling that the judiciary will push JWH back to union when his contract is done in 2015.

At the end of the day contracts are not binding & a player like Evans who is young & has to wait his time behind 3 to 4 others may not see out that contract IMO.

Great work Sully this kid will be 1 of the best front rowers in a few years very athletic who runs like an outside back.

JWH has to be our top priority. I too am a bit worried about him going back to union, but I think Trent and everyone will do their best to keep him no doubt. If he gets the captaincy I think he will stay

Good kid but will need another off season and another 5kg of bulk to his frame.
