  • We're getting close...

I don't get all the hysteria.

I see a squad of players who had a 2 month pre-season due to an unprecedented number of World Cup players starting to build some performances on the back of the same core fundamentals & principles that their game was built on last year.

I see a team who have let in just 2 tries in their past 2 games, attack doesn't worry. The ability to put points on hasn't just disappeared, execution is a little down but it always is in the opening rounds. Defence is all about attitude & hard work though, this is what gives me faith that we're heading in the right direction.

There's just little signs all over the place that we're no far away. Our line speed was the best it's been all season in that second half, we completed @ 80%, we saw some short interchanging of passing on Friday by our forwards, we're not taking any short cuts - we're playing good direct footy & most importantly we're hanging in there even when everything is going against us.

Well said, I don't buy papers anymore, listen to 2GB, and rarely watch channel9 so I refuse to get sweptaway with the panic. Friday nights game was a good old fashioned arm wrestle and if they kicked the penalty goal we may had got the chocolates.
Its a long season people forget that. After origin 3 thats when things get serious. Just look at the erratic scores this weekend the only thing at this stage that would concern me would be a blowout score or serious injury.

I also agree.. My only concern/ worry is our ability to score long distance tries. We seem to play it very safe travelling up the field. When given little opportunities in opposition 20m we will struggle (as we have already seen). We need a more expansive style if we want to go back to back, we are not playing with the same confidence as last year either which must change. Im not too worried yet but it looks as though its going to be a very competitive year

Funny thing is mate the papers and TV aren't talking like we are gorne after round 5. It's the same ones he that were doing the same this time last season.

Even the betting odds or whatever they are have us as faves still.

The way I look at it, Melba, Souffs, woManly and us, last years top 4 are all up and down form wise.

There is a reason for that.

Those 4 sides know not much is won in March and April.

Seeing The Boggs celebrations on the footy show today, after Friday nights win, I wonder if they realise its only round 5. It was Souffsesque.

Where would you put Mini in that equation mate???

Surely he's afforded similar compensations like the rest of the side???

I have noticed that like early last season Mini is condemned whenever he makes an error but most of the other boys, well SKiD excluded, are afforded the luxury of the benefit of the doubt.

I agree with your post. I just wonder does it apply for all the squad???

Don't listen Trenticles. That carnt backwards knows nothing.

            Newman is DA man now.

Silly Sausage will reclaim the game.

He told us. They both did.
