This whole forum is in meltdown after the two losses we have had in the last two weeks, and it's pretty ridiculous imo
If we had kicked the goal and gone onto win last night, most on here would be saying how good an effort it was to grind out that win, and to win when conditions certainly didn't suit us.
Against manly when we were nothing but robbed, we defended astutely all night, and still crossed the line three times (tupou, cordner and Jennings), which was two times more than manly, but were denied three times.
In terms of our attack, I'm not sure why people are so worried about it. We racked up 50 against the eels in the wet, and as it turns out, the eels aren't what they were last year. We scored 30 against Brisbane and our attack once again delivered when it mattered - it must have some potency to score 80 odd points in two weeks. The last two rounds we have probably had a combined 20-25 tackles in the opposition 20, and crossed the line five times; on a dry surface I say we score 4 out of those 5 (friends no try last night the one that misses out), and probably would have scored a couple of more. To me we look likely pretty much every time we head up the field, even though we aren't at our best yet. On a dry track we win last night for sure.
And our defence is rock solid no doubt. Apart from slip ups against souffs and Brisbane (who scored a few innocuous tries that night) we have conceded 20 points over the other three games, and, with the amount of possession teams have had in our 20 in two of those games (dogs and manly), that 20 points conceded would be closer to 60 for most other sides.
The fact of the matter is, we are the premiers, and these results may, unlike last year, not always go our way, as teams target us. When we get our full team back, which means more consistent go forward (Liu was a welcome return last night), I'm confident we will further improve and the results will start to turn. I know Trent agrees, he stated on a few occasions last night that we know where we are headed and he is proud of our performances, which I am too. He is confident, the boys are confident, and we all should be too. I think we will win next week, beat the dragqueens on Anzac Day and then give it to the tigers after that too.
We will be right.
