    Roosters Injury update
    Tuesday, 17 November 2009
The Sydney Roosters NRL Rehabilitation & NYC High Performance Manager Damien Austin has provided a medical update for the NRL full time training squad.

The Roosters have a total of 11 players in the injured group that are all at various stages on their comeback trail.

The injured group are all expected to be available for selection by round one.

Roosters Online will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with the status on player injuries throughout the preseason and regularly throughout the 2010 season.

    Braith Anasta

The Roosters captain is making a steady recovery from his horror leg injury sustained in June against the North Queensland Cowboys last season. It is expected that Anasta will begin running next week.

    James Aubusson

The Roosters starting hooker from 2009 was struck down by a season ending knee injury last May against the Melbourne Storm. James, the older Aubusson, has been making a speedy recovery from his knee reconstruction and has been eased back into running this week.

    Mitchell Aubusson

The third week back at preseason training has also seen Mitchell Aubusson return to running after overcoming an ankle complaint. The younger Aubusson played with the injury throughout 2009 but has since returned to running with the squad.

    Nick Kouparitsas

The Roosters mid-season recruit from 2009 is still sporting a cast on his wrist after having offseason surgery. Nick is doing light training at this stage as he is excluded from contact sessions.

    Anthony Cherrington

The Roosters talented backrower will spend another week in a leg brace as he continues to recover from last season’s knee injury.

    Tom Symonds

The Roosters local junior’s breakthrough year into the NRL came at a cost after he suffered a shoulder injury in late July that required a reconstruction. He has been recovering steadily and is expected to return to running next week.

    Ryan Williamson

Promising young centre Ryan Williamson is recovering from a quadricep strain but that is only expected to keep him from running for one more week. Williamson is still eligible for the Toyota Cup but is training with the full time squad in 2010.

    Daniel Conn

Roosters new recruit Daniel Conn is recovering from a knee injury. His participation from intense sessions are minimal but he is still participating in some drills despite being aided by a knee brace. An update on Conn’s training schedule will be known shortly.

    Phil Graham

The Roosters new flyer will have to wait a few more weeks before he can show off his pace as he recovers from a back injury. An update on Graham’s training schedule will be known shortly.

    Jason Bateiri

The Roosters new recruit, who is son of New South Wales Rugby League official Tas Bateiri, plies his trade at lock but is currently sidelined. Bateiri will begin light running next week.

    John Leiataua

The Roosters new backrow recruit is recovering from a wrist injury and is currently not involved in contact sessions. An updated schedule on Leiataua’s injury will be available shortly.

I wrote about this kid before either on the '2010 Thread' or the 'Player's Contracts' threads. We've bought him from the Parramatta SG Ball team. He is a backrow who can also play in the centres if need be. He is quite big and will turn out to be a good player. I think promoting him straight into the fulltime squad was a bit too premature and seems like sometimes O'Sullivan is trying to discover the next 'big thing' to come out of nowhere. But I'm sure O'Sullivan wouldn't sign the kid if he had nothing to offer.
