Such a shame Moga misses out by a month, they could've put together a deadly 3/4 line.

Piki Rogers is the kid we were flying in from NZ every week to play SG Ball last year. Had huge raps on him.

The other kid we were flying in from Townsville each week was Kyle O'Brien. Anyone know what happened to him?

Did anyone see these two play last year?

Too old, he turned 20 last season.

Popped in for a squiz last Friday arvo. Game was played over 75mins - 3 x 25min.
Roosters fielded a 28 man squad devoid of the 5 youngsters named above plus Jack Goodsall.
The programme named our 28 players but unfortunately didn't have the corresponding jumper numbers they played with which made it really difficult to determine who was who especially the many new faces (mainly Polynesians). I reckon about half will get the chop though.
Naughton the Pommie fullback didn't get much opportunity but is a deceptive runner of the ball. Kicks goals too. Similar build & playing style to Widdop.
RTS's brother had a run too. Tall & lanky, limited chances. I think he's young enough to play SG Ball this year.
Piki Rogers played lock. Good ball playing ability.
Busy performance out of dummy-half from Alex Thomas. Deitz played the final 25mins at halfback.
Several loose carries from Jokatama & Mamary - same as last year.
The standout player from both sides in the first 25mins was Braeden Uele. He hits like a Mach truck and just muscles through the line. Unfortunately he came off with a knee injury after barging over for a try. Hopefully nothing too serious.

thanks for the match report Gman, how well our NYC side performs this year will likely come down to just how much those 5 players actually play NYC this year, from a development standpoint there is definitely a good argument for them to spend plenty of time at Newtown this year rather than NYC.

Willis Meehan is an absolute beast but will be interesting to see how the Commonwealth Games prep affects his footy this year, already towers above SBW as an 18 y/o, if he can keep his temper under control could be absolutely anything in rugby league but is prone to giving stupid penalties, wide running backrower would seem to be his perfect position.

MacDonald needs to show more urgency in his football can be brilliant when up and going but can also be lazy and prone to silly mistakes, he has certainly grown over the last 12 months, the coaches need to convince him to use his size/power.

Hastings is probably going to be the long term replacement for Morts that bench utility that can play dummy half/halfback/fullback if required, this season is all about getting minutes under his belt and learning our systems and structures, he has an uncanny ability to be in the right spot at the right time, really good support player.

Taane Milne is a quality youngster in heavy demand from both Union/League, one of the few young outside back that has a really good defensive technique, would of played NSW u/18 last year if not for union commitments, unfortunately you get the feeling this will be his last year in league and will be a waratah next season.

Brendan Elliot was called up to the emerging QLD camp during the offseason after really starting to impress towards the end of last years NYC comp, best known for his ability to break tackles.

Robbo/POS have a really tough choice coming up regarding our backline in 2015 and beyond with Moga/Milne/MacDonald/Reuben/Elliot/Rokolati all fighting for the spot vacated by Mini's retirement and RTS's shift to fullback, with quite a few of these guys off contract in 2014 it will be interesting to see who is still around in 2015.
