  • Brian Smith - he can be the man

There's just so much to be optimistic about now that he's arrived. Ignore all the talk about how he's never won a comp. Ricky Stuart's won one. Do you want him back? Please Mr Politis, let the people you employ do the jobs you pay them for. Don't interfere. Let them live or die on the back of their own performance. You're a terrible judge of footballing talent. Your record speaks for itself. But you're a good businessman. That record speaks for itself too. Just be a businessman. Focus on that. If you can do that, Brian's a real chance of winning his first comp. It won't be next season, but even as soon as then the club will see some significant improvement.

    He was an inspired choice.

He will turn the place around.

And whilst everyone is on about the fact he has not won a comp - we should remember that he would be more desperate than any of us to win one.

He hopes to be around for more than the four years we have signed him for.

Hopefully it all works out and he will be.

Some long-term stability would be great.

I don't read too much into the fact he hasn't won a premiership.

He hasn't exactly had the players Bennett or Sheens have had during their careers.

He recently did a presentation to a bunch of the sponsors and board members.

He said all that he wants is to "fill a huge hole in the CV".

I would be very happy if we were the ones to be able to do it for him.

He is a tough and self-confident man.

        Exactly what we need.

You know how you can tell a lot by a man's handshake?

My hand is still black and blue.

Another amazing thing is that he remembers everyones name.

I was watching him working the room and he remembered everyone.

        That is impressive as well.

I just hope that we keep it together - because he has been too tough and self-confident for some places.

But he wasn't too good with numbers. Especially hotel room numbers

If Smith does nothing else but take our club from the rable it is at the moment to contenders again, then his job is done.

He wants to fill a hole in his cv, we need to fill the hole we have dug ourselves into...A perfect fit.

Smith is what the Club needs here and now - a steady hand to settle the ship and stop it from sinking any further than it has.

Supporters should not expect too much from the Roosters in 2010 - it will be a rebuilding year, on and off the field. And Smith had little say in the playing roster, as Noyce says, 95% of our players were under contract for 2010 when he signed.

2011 will be better, 2010 better still.

Patience will be the key here. Unfortunately, it's not what the Roosters Management or many of its supporters are known for.

I spoke with Ryan Williamson yesterday and he was jumping out of his skin with the changes at the club. He said everything seemed to have changed for the better. "Everthing is far more organised and professional" were his words. Smith has made a very big impression on him.

If Smith leaves the Roosters at the end of his term without a premiership I will not be upset as long as he makes it a place with discipline, structure and professionalism.

I think unles Politis and friends truly **** things up then this will happen without a doubt.

What amuses me (slightly) is that some of these kids that are excited about Smith coming will be gone very quickly if they don't sharpen up and show some respect.

Sheens coached teams have made the semis once since 1997. Hardly a record to be envied, especially considering that you don't even have to be good to make the top 8.

Smith's win-loss record, without looking it up, would be better than Sheens even with the "lesser" players. (Mack?)
