  • Outsiders for Rnd 1...

Just a curiosity more than anything ... I was surfing sportsbet and noticed we were outsiders for our rnd 1 clash vs Souffs!

1.95. I think I'll take them up on that offer.

I'm not offended, nor do I care that the bookies have us as outsiders. But I am curious as to what their reasons might be.

I personally think that this team was actually built for 2014 and we'll be 20% better this year.

And it'll start with a rnd 1 trouncing of the floundering maggots who missed their chance in 2013.

Because Souffs are the perennial March premiers, so stands to reason they would be favourites for the first game in March.

          Not really weird.
They have the best halves in the comp and we only have the SOO and premiership winning halves.
They have the best forward pack in the comp and we only have JWH, SBW, FPN, Friend, Guerra, Moa, Maubs, Napa, Evans, Casty, Liu, who are once again, the premiership winning forwards.
They have Nathan Merrit and we only have RTS and Tupou, who incidentally won the comp too.
When you really look at it, we dont have much compared to them.
They should smash us to bits, just like their fans smashed teef.

It's understandable. They'll be on a high after winning the Charity Shield. I wonder if they'll do a lap of honour with it before kick off?

Maybe they think SBW has already gone back to rugby?

All jokes aside At the End of 26 rounds we both finished on equal points Souths are the home side RND 1 and I guess this is what the market is based on

If you dont agree with it I suggest you snap up the overs you consider to be on offer

It's only gambling if you lose.
It's a calculated assessment when you win

not a gambler here but isn't it that the odds change when you have masses supporting one team more than the other? Therefore the souths having more of...them..would likely get the bookies to lower the odds for them?

I like it... the people expected to win always choke.

Souffs and Melbourne both knew they were headed for the finals last year whereas we were in a building year, just hoping to make the 8.

I hope this lasts all season!

Correctly, they have been saving there Dole cheques for this and have all unloaded on the wabbits to win round 1

Considering neither team has won their home game againt the other in the past 2 seasons we are a good chance round 1 if that trend continues.

Our record at ANZ has improved markedly in recent years - at one stage we couldn't buy a win there.
