  • Willis Meehan...

Just got booted out of some kind of emerging young stars camp run by the NRL. Sorry no link as I'm on the mobile.

But apparently he broke a no alcohol ban. Naughty naughty!

The club have stated that they'll stick by him. No surprise given his talent and the fact that it's a minor indiscretion you'd anticipate from 18 year old.

Some of rugby league's most promising players learned a sobering lesson at the NRL's rookie camp after they were sent home for breaching the strict no-alcohol guidelines.
One of those disciplined was Roosters wunderkind Willis Meehan, who has earned comparisons with clubmate Sonny Bill Williams for his desire to succeed in both rugby league and boxing. The teenager is the Australian amateur super-heavyweight boxing champion and the gold medal favourite in the division at next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The last player to act up at rookie camp, Jamil Hopoate, was sacked by Parramatta last year. However, the Roosters will stand by Meehan, the son of former Australian heavyweight boxing champion Kali, after the indiscretion at the University of Western Sydney's Hawkesbury campus last weekend. ''He has been internally disciplined by the head coach and we won't be going into it any further than that,'' Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said. ''He is an 18-year-old kid who made an error.''
About 90 youngsters from the Sea Eagles, Eels, Panthers, Wests Tigers, Roosters and Bulldogs attended the camp to receive training in areas including media relations, cultural awareness and drug and alcohol issues.

''Everyone at the rookie camp was given a clear set of guidelines about their responsibilities and clear rules to follow,'' Paul Heptonstall, the NRL's senior welfare and education manager, said.
In some positive news for the Roosters, England coach Steve McNamara has been officially confirmed as an assistant to Trent Robinson for the next two seasons.

      Thanks, Pelican.

Wonder if we might see Willis in 2014? Or maybe too early.

Too early, but a nice beat up story that had no real reason to be written. It's not like he created any mischief.

Fancy an 18 boy having a beer with his mates.

Cant wait to see him fight on the world stage.

Win, lose or draw, he is out there giving it his best. And his best could be a medal for Aus.

And he will be another to give it to Gal, ala Napalm and The Undertaker.

Give me a break, he is not just an 18 yr old having a drink with his mates.
He is being given an incredible opportunity that came with a set of guidlines, that he doesn't think he needs to abide by. If he can't show any discipline in that situation his boxing career will be very very short.
