  • Minichiello’s future still up in air

He has followed up his premiership win with another captain’s knock in an international boilover, but Sydney Roosters and Italian fullback Anthony Minichiello’s battle to prolong his NRL career continues back home.

Roosters officials will continue their discussions with the NRL salary cap department this week over Minichiello’s future. The club’s chief operating officer Brian Canavan does not expect a resolution until well into next month.

Even though Minichiello, who was part of Italy’s 15-14 win over England this week, has knocked back significant interest from elsewhere, including the Wigan Warriors, his one-year extension remains unsigned.

Roosters officials are in talks over how much they can offer Minichiello as part of the long-serving player allowance, with the NRL’s cap review still to be completed.

Am I reading this right in that the cap rules for next year are still not decided? Surely not!

I worry that the roosters are encouraging these articles. Especially since in the tele version Canavan is giving a quote.

Maybe they are trying to soften the blow.

I am 99% certain that Mini will return next year.

        No need to worry.

Oh give me a break. The chances of Minichiello not being at the Roosters next year are Zero.

I think that's the case mate we are almost in November and Mini still hasn't been signed, I think the writing is on the wall.

I also think Mini missed a great opportunity to retire on GF night.

How many players get to captain their team to a GF win in their last game?

Getting chaired off holding the trophy it would of been a fairytale ending.

Mini's form this year has forced me to change my opinion on him retiring..

The Italian Stallion has earned the right to retire on his terms..

If he feels he's got one more in him, then that's good enough for me..

                        Go Easts..

                        2013 NRL Champeens..

Mini is in my top three favourite players ever, love to see the legend run around for another year. With a long service concession, why not?
