  • Steggles play of the year

This award as most of you know went to Mini for his try saving tackle on Nathan Merritt in round 26.....can't argue with that.

Just wondering what the other Chookpenners highlight for one play was?

For mine it was Jennings try in the 72nd minute in the Grand Final. As Hawkeye (I think) pointed out the tingles go up your spine when the 3rd or 4th replay shows him clearly ground the ball and the cheer is electric. The other one that stands out for me was RTS try agains the Bulldogs in round 6.
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Dunno about the best but the one that did it for me was Napa's tackle on Sam Burgess (Rd 26?) taking him into touch.
Just class & muscle written all over it.

ANZAC Day v Dragons - SBW run, somehow squeezes his body through, no look offload to Pearce, who he knows will be there, who then draws Nightingale and gives it to Mini to outrun the 'quickest man over 40 metres' to score under the sticks in a full house at the SFS.

      IMO, anyway.

Jenko on Anzac day, when he made it look like Nightingale was stood still as he went past him.

We realised at that point we had some blistering speed in the side, for the first time in a few years.

Yep gotta agree, this was a great moment as well. Gotta have the Merritt tackle too though.

Also loved the Pearce try against the vermin

Moa reverse pass inside to SBW, line break, off load to Maloney, 30m run to draw defence, quick pass to "the cat" who immediately hurls a 15m pass onto the chest of SKD who runs wide to score in the Grand Final.

SBW taking the ball on his own side of halfway and accelerating then bracing himself for contact like he does. He then bursts through between two lol@souffs defenders before putting Pearce over for the clincher in the minor premiership showdown.

Of course we saw him replicate that in the lead up to Jenko's try in the GF, but that was a pivotal moment in the souffs game and stamped his authority on the contest

The tries on Anzac day were beauties.

                      SBW/Pearce v Souffs too.

Jenkos try in the GF will be replayed for years to come.

But for me it was SKD's try the other night. It was just a great team try where every player executed something special under the most pressure imaginable.

Moa on our 20 sucks in 2 players and delivers a deft pass.

Sonny on the angle with the beautiful offload

Which is read to perfection by Jimmy

Who is supported by Mini who then provides the greatest pass of his career which is like a rainbow that hits SKD on the chest who doesn't have to break stride to score untouched.

Probably my favourite try of all time now. Just ahead of Freddy's intercept off Joey.

Ok what about r6 against the bulldogs scum.

After all the hype about Sonny returning against his former club and the intense pressure he would have been under all week and the game himself - what do you think he does on his first touch of the ball ???

SBW first touch is a hit up into the forward pack of the dogs, then as the dogs line him up for a first up mauling he sends a delicious pass out to Sheck on the wing who scores untouched. This was after about 3-4 mins into a hyped up game!!!

SBW just bamboozled them that night starting off with this slight of hand.

Have to admit, of all the highlights videos I've watched, the Maubs-Jennings try on ANZAC Day is my favourite.

Is Minis try in the corner against Warriors in rnd 2 How he stayed in and got the ball down was incredible athleticism I remember being at an Irish pub in Surfers knocking back pints of Guinness Laughing my head off at that try
