Listening to the replay on mmm driving home, harrigan said he thought manlys first try had a frwd pass in it, so it evened out maloney's.

He cld not Work out what the penalty that we recieved in front of the sticks was for, since jwh seemed to give the first love tap.

Late in first half he said manly should of got the scrum feed when lyon kicked the ball out but it came off jennings when he kicked at it, and he said lyon was not given a chance to challenge for the ball late in the 2nd half when manly was attacking and toops came down with it.

trivial things that did not give manly the match and said that roosters thoroughly deserve the win when fighting back from 10 points down.

I was worried that a game would be tainted like the merge in '10. I have watched the replay twice now and there were shit calls both ways which cancelled each other out. We won. Yes there was a try from a forward pass but they got a try from an obstruction and a benefit of the doubt. I believe Lyon would of scores as he is all class but never the less it wasn't 100% guaranteed. Outside those incidents the missed or wrongly awarded rulings were even. In all honesty if we were not so nervous we would have flogged them. They were lucky we only played 35 mins of the grand final.

I don't think the refs cost Manly, but it was bloody nice to see us finally get some line ball decisions go our way and - pinch me, I'm dreaming - a 5-2 penalty count in OUR favour? In a frigging GF?

The first try was a clear obstruction. Hard to believe none of the commentators picked up on it, especially Johns and Freddy who analysed the movement late. Horo ran straight into Pearce's outside shoulder. It meant SKD had to come in. That has been a no-try all year. Other than that instance Pearce shut down Stewart all game.

We were lucky Aubbo's tackle was called a penalty try and he was not given 10 in the bin I thought. I mean it wasn't a penalty try imo but i'd prefer that. Going down to 6 forwards in a game like that when we were on the backfoot anyway would have killed us considering they scored another try against 13 of us not long after.

I thought the Maloney ball was just forward out of the hands but i think it was one of those one's where no advantage was gained from the forward pass and it was pretty marginal anyway.

Jennings definitely took out Lyon but what is interesting is that he didn't change his course sideways he just backed into him. Earlier in the game Lyon ran Tupou off the ball to the point where he went outside the field of play but Tupou was good enough to catch that one and offload. Don't see why we should get penalised just because Manly would rather go to groubd to draw a penalty than actually play footy.

All in all we got the rub of the green. And probably ended up two 50/50 calls up but we deserved more than that after the shit we've had to put up with all year. Lucky Toovey hasn't been in TR's shoes all year with the penalty diffential stats against us. He would have had a coronary and never made the GF. At least there would have been AN INVESTIGATION!!!

The lyon one he is referring to happens all the time nowadays. Watch all the bombs we put up and see how many of our chasers get blocked illegally. Toupou gets blocked pretty much all the time. They just dont penalise it anymore.

Nope. Had one manly diehard in hear this morning screaming about the forward pass....until I pointed out Williams deliberate tactic of tackling Tupou without the ball. He never even looked to see where the ball was coming from....just tackled him at the best time.
Blatant.

Said Manly fan just mumbled about cheats & walked out.

We had plenty of calls that went against us but we defended them, the best teams always do.

On that pass , the old dinosaurs in the channel 9 commentary crew are all carrying on because the ball went forward, that doesnt make it a forward pass. The commentators on Fox show the try 3 times , singing its praises. Not questioning the pass.

They were hard done by when the ball went out of Jennings . But the game was won by then.

The Pearce knock on early was a bit iffy. but its about time we got a few 50/50.

They can hardly complain about the penalty count, last time it went there way 12-5 and they had the 57% of the ball share.

Excellent work Guitar man. That is indisputable evidence. That has to go down as one of the all-time great GF leaps for a try. Not to mention that spectacular effort of Jennings for the matchwinner. Those two moments have erased the ghost of Steve Gearin forever.
