While he is great in the air, over the off season the training coaches, need to get him bulked up abit, being as tall and skinny as he is,he is always cannon fodder on the ground, to be picked up and carted 10 metres backwards. I was disappointed our forwards, never once got behind him when he was in the air, to give assistance with him being carried backwards, its not as if they didn't know it was going to happen.
But with the right amount of weight training, that should go along way to help fixing the problem.

Just needs to focus on core and leg work. We don't want him losing his speed and athleticism by being to bulky!

But I agree, he needs to get to ground as quickly as possible when carting the ball up.

We need to work on his fend, at times he steam rolls guys then others he gets pushed back 5-10m. Give him a step and a fend and he'll be as good as Izzy.

Size won't help him it's his height that kills him. It's just technique, you have to hit between players and get low, . He tries too often to bump off the first defender, they hit and stick, help comes and they drive him back. He will learn. Gee he was good last night though

I wouldn't change his shape. Would lose the advantage.
Just a matter of getting to learn how to wrestle & get to the ground asap when the situation needs. he stands very upright in these situations & is an easy target.
Have a look at Roger. Small & light but uses the wriggle to get to ground when he needs.

It's hard for him to get down too quick. It's like a giraffe being attacked by hyenas. Yes he needs more leg work to bust more tackles .

He ****in killed it last night. Impressed the shit outta me. A lesser character would have had their confidence shot after the heavy treatment he copped early on (insert wolfman), but he didn't allow himself to be rattled and was instrumental in the win.
                  Well done young fella

                    Bingo...

Manly targetted him as a weakness by sending ALL the high balls at him then smashing him (often in the air) with their big, low centre of gravity men.

He got driven back once... other than that he caught a LOT of high balls and was a much better giraffe than DCE. Seeing him tower over Wolfman to score made me cream myself!!! He's won no awards but this man is f***** dynamite... love his game!

Taller guys often struggle when hitting the ball back. He has had an awesome season. All he needs to do is work on not running so upright when it comes to the collision. Lower his centre of gravity when he hits the defensive line, making it harder for the defense to get under and lift.

Just watched the replay for the 4th time B-)

Tupou took a cracker of a mark in the second half that may have saved a try and went to ground (in field) pretty quickly.

Overall I was really impressed with his game and is always humble when he scores.

I had him down for the most improved this year with the players on our list from last year. I think he has improved immensely, he's very young and think he has a very bright future.

In saying that, in my opinion Friend would be the most improved player at the Roosters this year, followed by Cordner and JWH. No shame following those guys.
