The difference is that the easts team was aged and the melborne one is more youthful if the roosters 0f 75 were going around in 71 it couldve been a 4-5 year thing with them as well.
I would take Slater,Inglis and Smith and possibly Hoffman and slot them into the Easts side quite easy.

What frustrates me so much about our 2000-2004 team is the unfulfilled potential of so many players.

Minichiello's prime has been taken away from him by injury. Ryan Cross, Peter Cusack, Jason Cayless, Michael Crocker, Chris Flannery built their careers with us but are now spending the years that are meant to be their prime at other clubs - the same will happen with Tupou now as well. Craig Wing's form fell away sharply at the end of his time with us too.

The Easts sides of the 70's were much much better than this Melbourne side. You never saw the 74,75 Roosters beaten 40-0. To compare them is an insult to the Roosters.

I never hear about the wraps on Hedger and McKay during those years, as lots of the credit obviously goes to that blistering backline, but still.
