the easts sises of 74/75 were nere unstoppable as are melbourne today, how would we compare all things being equal?: eg mark harris against inglis, junee and cooper cronk, fairfax and slater?

Too hard to compare for mine... But us the early 00's v's Melbourne would be a great game..Originally posted by stephenj View Postthe easts sises of 74/75 were nere unstoppable as are melbourne today, how would we compare all things being equal?: eg mark harris against inglis, junee and cooper cronk, fairfax and slater?

The difference is that the easts team was aged and the melborne one is more youthful if the roosters 0f 75 were going around in 71 it couldve been a 4-5 year thing with them as well.Originally posted by TheBigFella View PostToo hard to compare for mine... I would take Slater,Inglis and Smith and possibly Hoffman and slot them into the Easts side quite easy. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

What frustrates me so much about our 2000-2004 team is the unfulfilled potential of so many players.
Minichiello's prime has been taken away from him by injury. Ryan Cross, Peter Cusack, Jason Cayless, Michael Crocker, Chris Flannery built their careers with us but are now spending the years that are meant to be their prime at other clubs - the same will happen with Tupou now as well. Craig Wing's form fell away sharply at the end of his time with us too.

That Easts side makes me cream in my pants. How good were they? I'd back them against any team of any fkn era.Originally posted by The Mack View Post1. Russel Fairfax v Billy Slater

Easily OMR. 75 would destroy any team playing today - all things being equal of course. For skill, they were and still are unmatched.Originally posted by OMR View PostThat Easts side makes me cream in my pants. How good were they? Id swap Ingliss for Harris and Smith for Walters also Slater for Fairfax can you imagine Slater and Ingliss running off Artie-would be an awsome sight.Originally posted by melon.... The Easts sides of the 70's were much much better than this Melbourne side. You never saw the 74,75 Roosters beaten 40-0. To compare them is an insult to the Roosters.Originally posted by stephenj View Postthe easts sises of 74/75 were nere unstoppable as are melbourne today, how would we compare all things being equal?: eg mark harris against inglis, junee and cooper cronk, fairfax and slater?

Always difficult to compare teams from different eras.
But trying to (objectively) compare on a player by player matchup, I'd say
The ones not highlighted I think are so close that its difficult to go one way or the other.Originally posted by The Mack View Post1. Russel Fairfax v Billy Slater

Based on this I think the Roosters 74/75 have it over the current Storm by 3:1
