  • It will take a miracle to win the minor premiership.......

Last night the Tigers were the better side, the pricks in pink couldn't gets their lips around the whistle quick enough to get the vermin back into the game, Bros were laying all over the Tigers players and were 7 mtrs back at best most the night and received 3 or 4 penalties for the match.

Vermin drop the ball "strip" Tigers have the ball ripped out, play on.

    2010 all over again.

One good thing to come out of the game is the tigers showed if you take the Vermin on up the middle especially with quick players from dummy half, you will find more holes than a Kings Cross brothel.

You dont beat Souths up the middle, that's their strength. Last night the tigers were assisted by the sin binning of S Burgess, they made yards and inroads because they threw the ball around and found gaps in the souths defence, Souths didn't adjust to the 12men defensive structure and were caught with their pants down. Even though two tries were scored from kicks by the tigers they battled Souths by mixing up their attack. I wouldn't be taking them on up the middle that's for sure, souths with 13 men back on field did score 32 unanswered points from the 20 minute mark of the game.

You minimise souffs forward pack go forward by getting you little men darting around the ruck, , Marshall went there all night and carved them up, Unfortunately for them they had Braith in control of the second phase plays and it led to jack diddly squat., The Tigers dominace only stopped when the refs allowed the souffs players to hold down the tackled player all the time, piggy back penalties got them into position.

Correct TDK. Plus we can't rely on Souths getting a rough deal from the refs like they did last night.

First two Tiger tries should not have been allowed, the first was a strip with nothing conclusive to overturn the ref, the second had two forward passes, Burgess should not have been sin binned, blatant strip on Goodwin ignored, and the Tigers were allowed to move up in the ruck and maul all night.

We can't rely on that next week, especially with our players showing a massive lack of discipline when it comes to penalties.

We need to go wide all night or they will kill us up the middle.

Last night, chiefly because my team wasn't playing, I watched the refs - especially who took control of the defense and which ref penalised. I urge everyone to do the same.
Through doing this, It becomes apparent who is managing the match. At present the NRL gets away with it because with 2 refs, very few pay attention to who blows penalties and who refers upstairs and with what decision (this is becomming critical as vidiots need to find something to overrule the decision).
People who do not believe please start watching each ref in this manner. It is most enlightening.
I'd love to see stats of refs penalties V each team. Is this publicaaly available?

The only reason the Tigers dominated in the first 20 minutes was because Souths were slow to react to the sin binning of Burgess. Souths and Storm are the masters of slowing the ruck, they have big forwards that can dominate tackles and than get a wrestle which buys them valuable time in the ruck. Souths want you to go through the middle. The teams that have been successful like St Merge, Cowboys and Storm, all mixed up their attack, they would use a combination of dummy half runs by their fast backs, a good second phase play with their big forwards and go wide early in the tackle count. Souths usually struggle to control the tempo of the game if you mix up your attack and not try and play them at their strength and that's through the middle.

The 2 ref system is not working imo.

Aint much difference between 1st and second only a little extra prestige >let Souffs have it so we can wipe the smiles off their faces later...all I know is they dont want to play Melbourne absolutely shitting themselves so I guess if we get it they will have to face them.

I think there is a not quite up to date listing in the Google Football stats.

I dont think you could weed out the cheats that way. Quiet often you'll hear the 2nd ref tipping penalties to the main ref.

Maybe thats why they use too refs.

Obviously we were watching a different game ...i"m still trying to reconcile yourtheory about the refs with the sin binning of burgess.

The sinbinning was the usual knee jerk reaction, it was wrong. And the refs spent the next 65m making it up to souths. I dont think the Tigers got a penalty from then - the scum got 8. And most of those wer'nt 50/50 they wern't even dubious - just plain effn wrong. A comical example of referees have to much say in the outcome of games.

Thanks John. I saw the figures as well but they are too old and not sufficiently granular - I have been a Quant Guy for part of my working life. We are a different team to last year so last year's figures skew the numbers.
I suppose the only way to really get to the bottom of this is to look at which ref blows the penalty over the course of the match.
Last night, one referee sent Burgess to the bin (IMHO in error); the other penalised Tigers all night. It was a Dickens Novel out there - A Tale of Two Cities.
