  • After Rd25, If we've already won the Minor Premeirship..

If we beat the sharks in Rd24, and titans in Rd25. Thereby wrapping up the Minor Premiership?.

Would it be best to rest our top players, before the Finals start?.
This may also affect souffs as well, because win or lose it may take no bearing on both positions on the ladder.

We stay at No1, and souffs stay at No2, no matter what the result of Rd26 game.

Therefore, the last game between Roosters and souffs, could potentially be two Reserve grade sides playing.
Where all the stars are saved from potential injuries, ready for the Finals???.

I'm a firm believer that if a player is not nursing an injury he should be available to play. Team harmony & continuity are very important, especially at this end of the season.
Every game the players play together the more they learn about each other.

Keep the momentum going, I say.

I reckon you only rest players if there is an injury that will genuinely benefit from a week off.

What you want in Semis is battle-hardened, in form players and combinations.

Likely we field our top side against a weakened Souffs who will go into the game to take out our players - the club is run by grubs and is a team of grubs

More importantly if we do win the next 2 games will we be presented with the Minor Premiership at our home game after the Titans game or have to wait until after the Souths game?

I think the players would agree with you as well Chook. They relish these types of games and you only have to speak to Origin or Test players who often say they thrive on these types of bigger games. It's disrespectful to deny our very best fit players the chance to play in the bigger games, even if they are club games. A few of us are planning to head out to Homebush for the last round against Souths. We aren't going out there to watch Newtown, with all due respect. These games separate the men from the boys, simple as that.

I'd rest SBW, Jennings and Maloney, maybe Jared but he did have 5 weeks off.

I believe I read a few weeks back a quote from Trent Robinson saying that he believes continuity in the combinations and partnerships between players is much more important this time of the season than allowing someone to rest up for a game.

Could have been a question from the members forum.

Robbo has spoken of the importance of continuity, stating that he wouldn't consider resting any 100% fit players.

The offseason is for resting. The finals are for playing footy. What's the point in assembling a roster of superstars if they are not going to be playing? Lots of people come to Sydney from regional areas and interstate to watch their heroes during the finals... watch them play footy that is..not sitting on sidelines texting their mates and admiring their tattoos..Like Chook said, unless they are injured, they must play.

I think it's best to have our best form leading in to the finals. If we happen to win in the first week we will have the next week off anyway.

Personally I think we (especially in attack) are starting to play our best football. Admiittedly, defensively against Canberra and Wests weren't so good but combinations are starting to gel together nicely.

I also think it's dangerous to tinker with your form. For those that follow the AFL, Collingwood tried this in the last round of 2011 and got smashed by 96 points to Geelong who eventually beat them in the Grand Final by 38 points. They (Geelong) may well have won anyway but I think it's good to keep the momentum going.

And yes, Collingwood are akin to Souths; supporters have no teeth and are criminals/brain dead/thugs or all of the above, players are dirt bags and have the biggest egos, Eddie Mcguire is associated with them - say no more!
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".
