  • Come Back Mini - All is Forgiven

As much as I love watching Roger play, I am worried about his safety under the high ball. He didn't actually drop any tonight (apart from the play where he was taken out by a defender) but he did half fumble a couple.

I think we need Mini for the big games. He organises the defence better too.

Agree. I think sheck is awesome on the wing. How many plays do we see with mini being an inside runner, but not have the speed to break through, but have not seen anything similar with RTS.

It was a swirly wind tonight. Both fullbacks had problems tonight.
But you do realise that RTS has the best stats for catching the high ball in the whole comp?
When was the last time Mini made a run like RTS did tonight?
Would Mini have made that tackle on Fergo last week?
It's his second game at fullback and you are worried about him under the high ball?
It's a specialist position and he will get better playing fullback not playing on the wing. He has gone fairly well in his first two games.
Having said that, with our injuries and pending suspension to LOD, we do need Mini back.
With the big games coming up, he is also far better at organising our defensive line.

We need our captain on the field to win the big games.

I'm not to concerned with Roger's ability to take the high ball. he takes bombs very well, up there with the best.

My concern with Roger's play is his positioning and talk in defence

That is stuff that comes with experience and thats what he can learn from mini, once he picks up that skill, we will have the perfect replacement for the Mountain cat

He'll only get better. Nothing to panic over.

He's 20 years old, he's played fullback twice in his career and we've won both games.

                    I don't see a problem.

That said, Mini is experience and what he loses in speed, he has backed up with talent and experience.

at this stage I prefer to see mini close the season out but no doubt RTS is the chosen one, I have no doubts

Just a thought: I wouldn't mind seeing RTS go to fullback for the last 10 of each half. He could do some serious damage on kick returns and in broken play against tiring forwards.

Agree - Mini is a must in the big games. Mini's positioning play, organising and safety under the high ball is what our team needs.

RTS will be a very good fullback, but has a lot to learn - mainly the things that Mini excells at. I think the two players should spend the whole of the off season together - wax on, wax off.

RTS will be a champion whether it be on the wing or at fullback. Two games at fullback and people have concerns?

Mini if I remember, played his first game at fullback in the world club challenge against St.Helens and adjusted to the position so quickly it was as if he had played all his career there.

The bottom line is Mini had played 76 games prior to this. Imagine RTS after 76 games. Let's give the guy a break, it was only his 26th first grade game. He will learn a lot more next season too if Mini is there to teach him.
