  • I don't want to be favourites for the comp...

After a great year to date, we have so much to lose...

A long way to go yet but i'd rather we were underdogs, scrapping, digging in, defending & fighting for each win , rather than believe all the hype that the premiership is ours...
We've, so far, had a great season, but if we get too cocky, we'll get our butts smacked, as happened in 2003...
1 game at a time where we keep playing for team mates, playing not to let each other down...
Let's try to control the hype...

We've seen massive improvements this year in so many players within the squad, but the job isn't finished yet...

Win our last game this year, 'Premiers',then celebrate, not before...

I really don't think that this team thinks the job is done by any stretch of the imagination. Robbo is a realist and that rubs off on the team. They really do just take one game at a time. We are far from certainties to win the comp and the team knows that. The form of Manly is starting to worry me no end. We all know what Melbourne can do in big games and they beat us all over the park the last time we played them and I know Souths were soundly beaten last night, but I think North Queensland would have beaten any team last night including us. They will be very hard to beat too, especially in front of 50,000 of their nutcase supporters come semi final time. Then you have Canterbury, who can beat anyone when they are 'on'. I'm just enjoying each game this year. I love watching our current team play. If we win the comp it will be a bonus......and I will get very drunk.

my god show some faith in your team, if being favs stops us from performing then we dont deserve to win it all.

Excellent post cookies, well said. I'd much prefer the rabbits hog the favouritism tag. IRoosterManI, it is just human nature that being talked up by the media could have some effect on some players believing their own press - it isn't a lack of faith that cookies and Planetboy are demonstrating here in my humble opinion.

I doubt our players & coach will be changing attitudes because of the position on the ladder & the added pressure.
They will know that they just have to keep doing what they have been doing.
TRobbo will keep reminding them of it.

Got a nice ring to it.

I think manly were always going to get better once both stewart brothers were fully fit, plus they have beaten the bad teams well, which a top 4 team should do, they have lost to the rest of the top 4, but in close matches.

manly should be in the back of every teams minds every yr. Very consistant club.

I'd much prefer us going into the finals having won 10 games straight and the Vermin losing most of their last 5.

PB we where missing JWH and Moa for the Melb game and they had 2 dodgy tries awarded, granted they where the better team on the night but I think where playing better now and theyre on the slide a bit and as for Souths we where missing Cordner and Odonnell in that first round clash both key players in our pack we shouldn't fear any team my only fear are the refs and injuries to star players.

Should we lose start losing all the way to finals and finish 5th? Would that make you happy?

agreed it is all part of the hype that the media build around the game as well as the betting agencies adjusting their odds. the team can't hide from their performance nice to fly under the radar but we have to live with what's happening. Trent's and the players previous experience will temper any notion that in any way that they have done enough.

Us poor fans have to deal with our emotional roller coaster ride that comes with following our roosters.

We should take the favouritism in our stride and celebrate the fact we have come along way from 2012.

The side still has 7 members of the Grand final side of '10 which in my opinion is a valuable asset.

Finishing top two is an advantage because no doubt our RD26 clash and Week 1 of the finals are going to be brutal encounters for our team. If we win that first game against 3rd/4th (if we finish 1st/2nd)gives our team the opportunity of a week off and allows the players ample time for recovery and letting other teams bash each other no end.

I just wish the finals were starting now rather than in a months time.

Agree with everything said here! I am nervous because of favourite tag however agree that there is nothing we can do but trust in our team and coach etc! Having said that if the absolute worst comes to fruition let's all remember what an awesome ride 2013 has been and that's the downside!! The upside... well sit back and enjoy!! Go Roosters!!
