Along with this, the demise of Todd "Toddy" Carney and the lack of spirit shown by the team, most notably from Nate "Midget Head" Myles, were also key factors.

Sydney Roosters missed the finals series in the 2 seasons where Trent Robinson was the head coach of Catalans after making the grand final when he was assistant coach for Brian Smith and have returned to the finals with him as head coach.

youre gravely ill, youre admitted to hospital in need of surgery and are heading closer to death each day. you have a choice. do you go with the veteran doctor, someone who has performed countless successful surgeries, with absolutely no failures, or the new guy, fresh out of uni, still with acne on his face and no experience?
yes, i understand that Robbo is doing very well for us, but it cant be said that bennett or bellamy wouldn't not have done as good, if not better.

How much of Craig Bellamy is about a check book.
How much of Wayne "Wowser/cadaverous misanthrope/Daddy was a drunk that beat me/the Fitzgerald inquiry missed me/I was Terry Lewis's best mate/Jack Herbert learnt how to carry a bag from me" Bennett's success with Brisbane was the one team town luck.
Bellamy still has the three players brought in with the dodgy books and Bennett has come back to the pack in a big way.SUPER DRAGON!

There is no guarentee that Wayne Bennett would prove a success at our club as his time at Newcastle is showing and Craig Bellamy is unproven at NRL level at a club other than Melbourne where he has moulded a playing style that his long term star players are used to.
I believe that the decision to appoint Trent Robinson has been proven to be correct. It must be remembered that Wayne Bennett and Craig Bellamy both had to start somewhere in their career as Trent Robinson has had to do in recent seasons. It may not mean a lot on the surface but it must not be forgotten that Robinson was the super league coach of the season as well.

Anyone who renegs on a handshake agreement is not worthy of a Roosters coaching role.
His teams also play boring as batshit footy.

It's the end of the 2002 season and you're the Melbourne Storm. You just sacked your coach and are currently looking for a replacement.
Tim Sheens is available - a multiple Premiership winning coach. Also available and putting his name in the hat is a young upstart named Craig Bellamy.
Now do you go with the super experienced coach with an impeccable CV or the young upstart from Brisbane no-one has ever heard of?
The game of Rugby League evolves at an incredible pace; and every now and then comes along an innovative young coach at the cutting edge of player management and thinking about the game should be played. This is Trent Robinson.
And unlike Kevin Moore or Ivan Henjak he is here to stay because what he's done at this club is nothing short of remarkable. His new ideas and philosophies are also exactly what we needed. As such I wouldn't trade him for Bennet or Bellamy in a million years.
You could argue that we ended up with Robinson by accident. I don't think it was a long term vision. But sometimes accidents are the best thing that can happen, just like Penicillin!
