Well it turns out the shot actually fractured Willie's cheekbone, lucky that news didn't leak until after the charge sheet.

Apparently it wasn't SBW's tackle that caused the fracture.


Anyway, the 2 week ban is pretty fair IMO, but how did Smith get off...

2 weeks I reckon

best would be a down grade as he has 57 carry over points so minimum 1 week but i would say 2 weeks - mason will give evidence he says but he did fracture his cheekbone although hard to tell if it was a result of this incident? - between guerra and napa as a replacement as next two games will be hard 2 sides in penrith and the raiders trying to nail the 4 vacant final positions since souths-34/roosters-32/storm-27/manly-27 have nailed 4 already. one would expect storm and manly would at least win one more game as 28 points would be the cut off for 8th place. expect a fired up penrith and raiders side in the next two weeks i would say so no easy games at all for sure with us having a poor record at penrith and the raiders defeating us already this year although down in canberra. big two weeks coming up

It was not a shoulder charge, however it was high and dangerous, two weeks isn't that bad given their crackdown on these types tackles.

Sonny Bill is fast becoming a liability.
That was a ridiculous tackle for him to make.
Now he's missing for two matches.

He's not the only one making ridiculous tackles and giving penalties away.
Others of ours, they line up the opposition players, have '3 weeks' to decide where to tackle them, then hit them around the neck or something.

Sonny Bill needs to be sent for "tackling style reassessment", and told to get with the 'hard but legal' play program.
Mason was already tackled, he shouldn't have gone anywhere near him.

SBW and our club got extremely lucky with this one, clear intent, first contact is with the head, obviously caught mason with his shoulder and sonny jumped. This tackle was much worse then JWHs earlier in the year
