  • Left hand side Jennings Tupou combination

Felt last night the attacking combination of Jennings and Tupou brought together lots of good moments from the season for these two in one game. Great pass from Maloney for the first try but the play that followed was very sharp and great to see simple things like the support play from Tupou if Maloney got collared, which earlier in the season wasn't there and he often found himself getting left behind by Jennings as he burst out of the blocks.

The short side try to Tupou was equally impressive and shows how switched on Jennings was in this game great work from him and great strength and finishing from Topou. Unlucky not to pick up a second. If he can work on his lines for the high balls to counter the defenders blatant running chasers off their lines which is no longer policed as long as they don't make contact we will have a very potent left attack.

Combine this with what Boyd is doing in tight on the left hand edge and Maloney's hole running and on our day the best defensive sides are going to struggle against these three points of attack and getting numbers to all three.

I agree with you champ. Very slick last night. Jennings could finish one of the most prolific tryscorers of all time. His record is right up there.

Somewhat shaky early on in the season and imo still is, but yes it looked good last night
I've also just realised most of our set plays are aimed down the right away? Or is this just my selective memory bias

If you get to see the replay again, look at Jennings whisper in Friends ear when he went to dummy half. After the play the ball Friend went the short side to Jennings who passed to Tupou & he went over in the corner. Great vision from Jennings

Topou is getting better and better. We have to remember he only came into 1st grade late last season. He is starting to run a lot harder and for a winger his inside passing is good. He will score many tries for us in upcoming seasons

Exactly he has confidence in himself and Topou this sort of stuff is hard to defend against when they are coming at you from so many points

Jennings is quite clever between the ears.Toupos will become his own playing along side Jenko

My read on it is the bulk of our points and line breaks are coming out of the left hand side through Maloney, Boyd, Mitchell Aubusson when playing left, Jennings and Tupou with Maloney dominant on this side. Agree Chook most of our set plays play out completely on the right finishing with Roger. Might have something to do with the line breaks of Maloney and Jennings particularly short cutting some of these plays.

Mitchell Pearce as did Mortimer working the edge runners close in like Boyd and Aiden such as the last night through gaps and good line runners and tends to works the right hand side more.

SBW has led the resurgence on the right hand side along with the superb finishing of Roger. SBW when he plays on the left ramps this side up a level again. There is obviously some work still to be done on the right side to get it operating to the level it has in the past.

Jennings was unlucky not to score two tries and have three try assists and Topou two tries last night.
