Q: (@Trader_Girl) is SBW only as good as your average 350k back rower?

The Lurker: Take away the hype and the mystique and he is probably worth a maximum of $400k. He is a top class back-rower but brings a lot to the table in terms of marketability and the Roosters seem happy to pay him extra for that.

Maybe he's a Dogs fan or his analysis of the game is just as poor as his mail but just thought I'd take this opportunity to point out just how dominant SBW has been this year.

Ranks 3rd in Linebreak Assists in the NRL (1st amongst forwards) - No other forward is even in the top 20

That said, I think there's still room to improve in how we use SBW.

He looks great when we give him the ball with depth, like a half/five-eighth/fullback out the back. He steps, straightens, and threatens the offload very well.

But his linebreak on the weekend is a way we could use him more - flat balls at the line to a big bloke with great feet and good speed. Having played inside in union he is used to flat crash balls at the line, and he could be a big threat hitting holes round the edges.

The more you think about it, the more you realise the guy can do it all. I mean really, everything. It's pretty incredible.

Sonny-William Williams is at the moment after just 15 games coming back from 5 years away from the game in the top 4 in the game...the others being Smith, Inglis and Thurston. However for sheer presence and the ability to turn a bunch of also-rans into a premiership contender he is second to none and IMO shades Inglis...then add his marketability on top of that........SBW is easily worth $1 million per season.

SBW is a great player, and maybe with a bit more league under his belt could become the best.

But Inglis at the moment is something else. It is a privilege to watch the guy play, just a pity he's doing it in such a shit jersey.
