  • Security and Cops at the Chookpen

Security and cops arrived at the Chookpen last night.

Seems Manly fans sitting in the Pen were upset with what was occurring there. LOL
Yes, security seems to have called the cops!

Manly fans sitting in the Chookpen?

Here's an idea...what about security do their job properly and kick out of the Chookpen anyone and everyone who doesn't have a valid ticket to be sitting there.

What was actually going on Apart from a few F bombs and people cheering Tame night in the pen really

Good idea. There should only be Roosters supporters there. Like I have said before, when we came down for a game I paid extra and changed my GA (in membership package) tickets for chookpen tickets.

        Nothing.

But, security and the cops arrived for some reason.
Sure looks like someone complained...my guess is it wasn't Pen members.

Ha Funny story about the cops coming down to the pen.

We normally have a security guard in the pen, Steve, great bloke, except for the fact he's a souffs fan ! He knows us and has no issues, usually sorts out trouble quickly.

Steve wasn't working last night, some other nuffy was.

This new security person, took exception to one of the actions of a pen member.

So rather than speak to this patron, he decided to call the police directly.

This pen member is Wayne Leoung, LONG serving Roosters fan and Chookpen member, well known (in a good way) to the club, players and fans.

The report the security guard gave to the police, "I am concerned with the Asian bloke standing up, he might disrupt other patrons"

he called the cops for that !

I think I may know who you are talking about. Is it that the bloke who has the family guy banner of stewie or quagmire ??? That bloke is a legend, I can't remember watching or being at a game recently where I don't see him there.

There's another really loyal fan I remember from years back when I was a kid and my old man used to take me to the games. I don't know his name tbh, but I'm sure you've all seen him. He wears a rooster hat (with red spikes on the top) and the old easts jersey, and lets just say, he is a very passionate supporter. I have been to a couple of games over the last year and I haven't seen him there. I hope he's ok.

Wayne Leoung, a nicer man you'd never meet.

                  "Troublemaker"? LOL

While I agree with the security guy in some respect, that people really should stay seated and not stand up in front of other patrons, even if the game gets exciting...[it wouldn't surprise me if the Manly fans, who should not even be in the pen, complained]...

                  ...it's the Chookpen!

Wasn't the idea of establishing the Chookpen in the first place to have an enthusiastic, chanting, singing, cheering, flag-waving, banner-waving bay full of Roosters supporters to show on TV?

                  "Unleash Morley"?

"Unleash the fans in a Pen" and you get what you invited, a place where fans go wild!

In wild pens one is bound to have some fans jumping to their feet, waving flags and holding up banners with excitement.

In one of our recent games away, when we scored the winning try...was shown on tv, Wayne, beside himself with jubilation and holding up a victory banner.
                  Wonderful marketing exposure.

He and the other Chookpen members, and fans that attend away and home games have waited many years for this team, and this year.

Get opposition fans out of the Pen!
Police the seating and the tickets.

And let the Pen go wild! ...and be run by those fans in charge of it.

Cops didn't take any action, as far as I know.
What action was there to take?

Last time I looked, standing up at the footy in a special Pen, enthusiam and excitement were not criminal offences.

Arriving 'late', then standing in the aisles for '2 hours' while you survey the landscape for any vacant seats, blocking view of the game should be though!

Now that's what you call a waste of valuable police resources. That policeman could have been somewhere else preventing a more serious crime from occurring, like stopping a vermin fan from robbing someone.

wayne is a delightful man, i dont think he was moved, the only anger and agrro in the penncame as a result of continual refere incompertence nay bias especially by chechin wh loves it in pink? overall the pen is a self regulating community if someone is out of line othere pen members rectify it, interestingly the guards at the top of the pen entrance starting looking at both sides of the entry card, to ascertain the person going back in after a toilet/beer break was indeed that person, i did see a couple of manly nuts moved out early on, naturally i thanked the security guy for doing so later in the night. business as usual last night, promises to be fun v the sharks in a few weeks time? after a big break we seem to get larger crowds coming back into the pen?a few regulasrs missing, but then it was a monday night!
