  • 13-6 penalty count

Can someone tell me the last time the roosters won a penalty count as handsomely as 13-6?

That is what our toothless neighbors received in their favor today.

I did not watch the game, but heard their first try on the radio in the car - right after a penalty. I assume many of their others followed some of the other 12 penalties.

13 penalties. We would be lucky to receive 13 penalties in 3 matches.

I still think we can knock them over this year and win it, we are that good. That is unless the NRL suspends JWH, Moa, SBW and Jennings for 12 weeks each the next time they tackle someone above the navel.

And we have won 10 from 14 this year despite being belted all year long in the penalty counts.

I am going on the record that, while acknowledging $ouff$ are a strong side, like many of their supporters who are dependent on government welfare handouts, they are a team who depend on handouts like we saw today from the officials.

I also think had they received the same penalty counts against them as we have endured this year, they would be 5 or 6 losses worse off.

Either way, they are going to be damned hard to beat, make no mistake.

It'll be the St George grand final all over again....

There's been some pretty average calls in amongst them too.

My favourite was when Isaac Luke pulled Mannah back into the ruck and Mannah got penalised for a second effort.

they are grubs at souffs. especially luke. they hold down the player longer than any nrl team and get more penalties than most. watch closely of 3 holding or flippin over the player well after the tackle been complete

I've always had two concerns when facing Souths in the finals since Rnd 1.

They are: can we match them in the forwards? And can we overcome what will be blatant favouritism towards the Rabbits?

And im now very confident that we can match them in the forwards. JWH has gone to a whole new level. Moa has settled in beautifully. O'Donnell is fast approaching top form. FPN is playing awesome footy atm and providing sensational go forward. And then Napa also provides the size and aggression to counter the Burgess brothers.

But, make no mistake about it, it's been patently clear through 14 rounds that the refs want Souths to go far this year. They are this seasons 2010 Dragons. The referees darlings who can hold no-one down for too long and rarely do any wrong at all.

Our only hope is that we meet them in the GF and the refs put the whistle away as they sometimes do. But alas I fear it'll be like 2010 where it's 6 nil with our first penalty received in the 77th minute.

Its actually a key reason they are so high on the ladder.

Get some wonderful decisions ...a very disciplined and worthy football team.

I'm always one to appreciate a good urban myth but the way i read the table in this link for 2013 souths up to the end of round 14 had received 77 penalties and conceded 82 a differential of -5. If im reading this correctly. Hardly anything to write home abt. We have received almost as many 75 but conceded a lot more at 101. Only 4 teams have a worse penalty differential than souths. Im not too smart so i could be reading this table wrong but if im reading it correctly your it would seem your assertion is verging on paranoia
http://stats.rleague.com/rl/misc/penalties.html#2013. We and the tigers have been consistently near the bottom for years.

The men in pink will give them the best possible chance though.

I think the most important stat is the winning of the penalty count ... we have won the count twice ... obviously it is still due to some poor discipline but we cop a fair hiding. Love to know how many trys we have conceded from penalties ... i recon it would b about 80%

Haha I've actually played in the old grandstand at Waverley oval.

                              Is good.
