  • Jake Friend's 40/20, well I never..........

thought I'd see Jakey kick a 40/20, it was his first one ever wasn't it? The funny thing was that Barba actually stopped it from being a 40/20, but it was still awarded, Jake's game has started to go to a level that I thought he would never get close too, well done Jakey, keep it up & you could be the one to take over from Cameron Smith after all!

He kicked quite a few 40/20's when he first came to Sydney and played in our SG Ball team.

        It's still counted as a 40/20.

His grubber kicks seen in earlier games this season were very good - maybe Trent will use them them as a tactic in the semis as Pearce yet to improve that part of his game

Correct, that was not in doubt as I said!

Actually I wouldn't mind going back to watch it again, but last night at the time I thought it was a correct call.
On first look Barba did knock the ball up when his foot was on the line (touchie obviously obscured) and that's what Ch9 focussed on so was not out. But if you continue to watch it just after that point you'll see he grasps the ball and his foot is back on the line
                ...... anyway that's how I remembered it ?

He never actually had a hand on the ball while he had his foot on the line but when he eventually grabs the ball he hadn't yet taken a step inside the field of play therefore the ball is considered out. So in the end it was the correct call. Technically not a 40/20 though because the opposition took the ball into touch. Still an exceptional kick!!

Exactly Yak. And not one commentator picked it up.

Yeah the replays seemed to pull out of the most crucial part after he tapped it up, anyway it was a great kick & if things keep going the way they are, we will have at least 3 kicking options, 4 if SBW can fine tune his grubber for RTS in the corner!

Maloney's kicked at least one I know that.

Friendy's short kicking game is in my opinion the best in our team, surpassing Pearce and even Maloney. Didnt know he had a long kicking game of any repute until tonight - well done on the 40/20 mate!

It's good to see Jake getting the chance to show his attacking talents throughout the Origin period. His passing game and dummy half running in attack was phenomenal last night considering he still had a usual workload. A real Farah-esque performance. If he got the freedom in our game plan to play like that every week he would be top 3 in the game alongside Farah and Smith easily

This could become a weapon - teams are always worried when SBW has the ball as he can run, offload and throw the long ball. Add a short kick and wingers will not know what to do - stay back, rush up, slide

That's right.. Look at his run for our first try. Very encouraging to see.
